    Confessions

Confession: my sister and I made Sister Sledge's song We Are Family 'our song'. So to this day no matter where I am or who I'm with I have to stop what I'm doing and call my sister and hold the phone up to the speaker until the words 'i got all my sisters with me'. I change that line to 'i got my big sister with me' . The same goes for the line 'get up everybody and sing' which I change to 'get up little Lisa and sing'. No matter how much I try to resist calling, I can't. I HAVE to call. AND after I sing that I instantly hang up Lol

  12. Congratulations @Moonglyn on your second month smoke free! I hope you do something special to celebrate this awesome achievement
  13. Welcome hesteralumni, you can't quit cigs because you're telling yourself you can't. We are all proof that you can quit, you just have to know it too. Smoking is a gnarly addiction no doubt about it but so is meth and you gave that up right? I kept telling myself that all (good?) things must come to an end and it was time for cigs to end too. It wasn't always easy, I smoked for 35 years, but with the help of a support group like you have here it is totally doable. Good on you for taking the first step and signing up. Stick close, read our threads about addiction and maybe even check out the celebrations forum to see all the successful quitters we have here, how's that for motivation?
  14. Best friends forever

  16. Wow, that's a lot of food! Sounds delish
  17. Watching a totally trippy movie on FX called Split, but omg so many commercials! The movie says it's three hours long but I swear an hour of it is commercials and behind the scenes info. If it wasn't so good so far I would have changed the channel by now.... Oh and drinking a beer
  18. It's better to give than to receive
  19. Of course it's ok to talk about NRT here. There's no shame in using them to get you past the first few hard days/weeks/months. Just make sure to have a stop plan for them too once you're farther along in your quit. You can do it Michelle, we're all proof of that
  20. Whatever my ticker in my signature says, it's too early for math lol

  23. Birds of a feather flock together
  24. Yea smoking in any establishment here, except the Indian casinos, has been banned for years. I thought I would hate not being able to smoke in bars when it first took effect but I was surprisingly glad they did. I never was one to smoke in restaurants so I was really happy to see that banned

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
