  1. do you think shane slipped off his chair?
  2. I think you need to get you moves out there because one of you will have a little princess waking them up in about 4 hours expecting to be taken to the pool... so I'm gunna toss a coin, and jillar is going to call head or tails and I tell ya who goes first, yeah? or not?
  3. Do you not think I have any shame? You could go alphabetically? You could go by age? Isn't it ladies before gentlemen?
  4. what watch you two do it???
  5. Nothing shocks me... I would be the worst judge of the shock value.... I'm half tempted to participate, but I'll enjoy watchin you two do it...oh did that come out really wrong?
  6. That is the most Aussie frickin thing I have read in frickin ages.... yay the Aussie road trip... at least ya didn't hit a frickin roo.... an ya showin ya sea legs cos a land luva woulda had a jerry can in the ute with spare juice justin. Glad you could spin the positive.. and don worry mayte, cos she'll be frickin right. (wouldn't it be funny if all the tractor needs is asome petrol or a spark plug...hahaha)
  7. maybe Jillar's trying to level the playing field by having it over there... trying to tame you down. Besides, who will judge it in here??
  8. ^^ That's a goody too... and even in Aus the significance of it being on Good Friday was not lost. With Crawf, how fricking broken was he when he finished... I watched that in a lounge room with about 12 others and even the boys had moist eyes.. not sure if it was worse because we all knew him as the crazy lunatic of the show who would do all the silly stuff for a laugh it was really the first time anyone had ever seen him so serious.
  9. Shane Crawford - >300 AFL games, Brownlow Medalist, Grand Final Captain, Hall of Famer ... and Breast Cancer Awareness & Fundraising Superstar So earlier this week someone I know had a rant about footy players not being good for anything and meat heads and never giving back... so amongst the more than a dozen I could rattle off this block stand out from the modern era. He is what's know as a larrikin, not necessarily the smartest cookie in the box, but a bloody good footy player and a bit of a class clown... anyway after he retired Raelene Doyle (Aussie Olympian) came down with breast cancer... so he made a pledge to run from Adelaide to Melbourne (aprox 727km) in the middle of winter to raise money and awareness... what happened you couldn't script... ever country town he ran through people would line the streets, or run with him and not only did he go through a physical challenge but an emotional one.... 3 or 4 years after this... he again gave of himself for this cause... and rode a bike from Melbourne to Perth (3,418km) in just under 3 weeks again in the middle of winter... that is a longer distance than The Tour de France and in much less time.... this man is what a hero is..... and he certainly gave back. The first run nearly broke him as a person, he was so emotionally effected... below is the live footage of him finishing the run, with some snippets of the run itself.
  10. "Queen" Boudicca ... I know she wasn't really a Queen but she was truly heroic.
  11. Ok so lets put a nice positive spin on this... from one junky to another, no negative nancy talk... find the positives and focus on them... repeat after me: "I did not fail at the coffee quit, I realised the the physical, psychological and emotional stress associated with quitting two highly addictive substances at the same time was unhealthy. I chose to focus my energies on fighting the nicotine addiction as the priority. This has the greater negative impact on me. I was smart enough to get my priorities right. AND when i've nailed the nicob1tch's arse to the wall I will deal with the coffee c8ckhead, but until then it can wait".... that's what happened, you didn't fail you made a smart adjustment to you actions to best benefit your quit... what a winner.
  12. well you all don't hate me for my pizza loathing so how can i hate you for you lack of taste in nuts?
  13. Wilfred Owen .... poet who wrote Dulce et Decorum Est. , won the military cross and sadly died a week before armistice day... For those who didn't have a British based English Lit. Education it goes: Dulce et Decorum Est By Wilfred Owen Bent double, like old beggars under sacks, Knock-kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge, Till on the haunting flares we turned our backs, And towards our distant rest began to trudge. Men marched asleep. Many had lost their boots, But limped on, blood-shod. All went lame; all blind; Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to the hoots Of gas-shells dropping softly behind. Gas! GAS! Quick, boys!—An ecstasy of fumbling Fitting the clumsy helmets just in time, But someone still was yelling out and stumbling And flound’ring like a man in fire or lime.— Dim through the misty panes and thick green light, As under a green sea, I saw him drowning. In all my dreams before my helpless sight, He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning. If in some smothering dreams, you too could pace Behind the wagon that we flung him in, And watch the white eyes writhing in his face, His hanging face, like a devil’s sick of sin; If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs, Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues,— My friend, you would not tell with such high zest To children ardent for some desperate glory, The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est Pro patria mori. Notes: Latin phrase is from the Roman poet Horace: “It is sweet and fitting to die for one’s country.”
  14. I get what you mean, and FW de Klerk gets forgotten in the Nelson hype and he was instrumental in a lot that went down for the positive. Imagine going against everything you were bought up to believe and against everything your people held true to effect change... that's courageous, making the unpopular decision for the right reasons.
  15. Hey @christine 12 I noticed in another thread you are also trying to give up coffee. Can I just say, as both a coffee/caffine and a nicotine junky I can't do both. If you have only just started the coffee detox as well could you pop it on the back burner for a few weeks until the nicotine withdrawal is at a better place, because both have pretty full on physical detox, and both have a huge psychological impact. A few months ago I had to go coffee free for 14 hours for a medical test and i went mental... total and complete break down... rocking on the floor like a numpty.... and i knew i could have a coffee in the morning after the blood test... it was insane. Everyone here had to rally to keep me on my quit. I know I couldn't do both at the same time. Is it just coffee you are giving up or caffine, if its just coffee are you drinking tea? because that could be a good reward when you are looking for one.
  16. Well i'll be the resident nut but only if I can be a macca nut cos they the Aussie nuts and they are gold class dontcha reckon?

  18. ^^^ brilliant choice and a true hero. ok this is a double header... Keith Murdock & Ellis Ashmead-Bartlett Between the two of them (one aussie journalist and one pom) they bought about the sacking of Sir Ian Hamilton who was using ANZACs, Canadians, Irish (the mass slaughter of Irish was a big contributing factor and possibly the final straw in the leave up to the Easter Rising) and to a lesser extent the poms at Gallipoli as nothing more than target practice dummies for the Turkish & German machine guns and bayonets...so in a time of war, when these things weren't done they both railed against the machine, protested the mass senslless and pointless slaughter and were instrumental in bringing about an end to the campaign.
  19. You are doing so well... feeling like a failure is just the stupid nicob1tch/nicodemon trying to trick you. 2 days is great, day three is just hard. That's how it is sweetie... day three is sent to test every nerve ending and fiber but you can get passed day 3, just keep posting... random thoughts .... try and do something to keep your mind occupied (why do you think the games threads are so popular here)... seriously nicotine is an addiction, it wants you to feed it and its been with you a long time, it knows your weaknesses... it makes you feel like a failure WHEN YOU ARE NOT, YOU ARE THE OPPOSITE, YOU ARE SUCCEEDING, so it sends messages that you are because its programmed your brain that when you feel like that your feed it and have a smoke... having a smoke wont make you feel any better. So it (the nicotine addiction) is playing on your need for rewards (cos we all need those).... so every hour you don't smoke have a little reward.. hard lollies/sweets/candies are good because you can suck them and they will keep your blood sugar up... which will also help with anxiety and craves
  20. Well she is great, anyone who attributes their big break to a timtam ad is surely a legend, yes?

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
