  1. So glad you have joined us, Laura! Congratulations on your decision to quit!!
  2. Please do some more reading, Amy...it is an addiction...and you enjoy the relief of feeding the addiction. Believe me, I turned down fun events, movies, trips, huddled in freezing cold, crawled out of bed when seriously ill...all to get my fix. Smoking was how I dealt with happy, sad, mad, stress, rewards, it ran my life. I do not want that life for you until you are my age...please think about that as you consider how much you "like" to smoke.
  3. My heart is broken for you....I would not wish starting over on anyone. With that said, let us know when you are ready to climb aboard the forever train...we are here. And absolutely no judgement...it took real courage to admit the choice you made...

Got it for you, Marti: Rachael, you know you don't really want a cigarette and you know it won't fix sh**...so suck it up and deal with it. oh and P.S. if you need to punch someone in the face because they are being a DB... then do it :) you'll feel tons better than if you had smoked and you can make someone's nose bleed!

Rachael! Stop right this second and listen up!! You will not smoke....those jerks are not worth it...and it would not do a thing for you but make you feel crappier. You have been on this board long enough to see people who said "last time I quit it was so easy...why am I so miserable this time?" Or even sadder..."I was just going to have one, and all of a sudden I've been smoking for 15 more years..." So you have to work with imbeciles...your smoking is not going to make them one bit smarter or nicer. It will just make you hate yourself as well as them. You are way stronger than this!!
  8. Good for you, Amy! Take care of those cravings any way except smoking!!
  9. Very happy for you!!
  10. "I see no hope for the future of our people if they are dependent on frivolous youth of today, for certainly all youth are reckless beyond words... When I was young, we were taught to be discreet and respectful of elders, but the present youth are exceedingly wise [disrespectful] and impatient of restraint" (Hesiod, 8th century BC)
  11. Trish, I found a series of videos called "Fit in Five" on the Doctor Oz website...there are four of them...
  12. Oh, I forgot to mention, there is another forum where many of us pledge N.O.P.E. (Not one puff ever) each day, and that helps us. Once I have made my daily pledge, smoking is out of the question for that day...hope this will help you, too.
  13. Welcome to the board, Anna! You are so wise to quit at your age...your body can and will heal itself and it will be as if you never smoked. There are certainly dozens of us here who wish we had made that choice. On the Quit Smoking discussions board, there is a lot of great information to help you educate yourself about the addiction and quitting. There are a lot of kind, supportive, slightly nutty people here who will happily support your quit while having some fun along the way!!
  14. So happy to hear she is doing well...the collar could be a struggle...
  15. No smoking for me, today!
  16. Okay, based on what Marti says...sounds like we are good at the doctor, at least nothing serious. Hoping you will have pleasant surprise at the dentist, and it won't be bad at all!
  17. Wonderful news, Armed! Six months is fabulous! Celebrate!

    Ahem

Hysterical...ribs are hurting from laughing...please stop!
  19. that is what I was trying to say....
  20. Oh, Tracey!! So very happy for you, and so glad share your humour and your giving heart. I am so glad that you are a part of my life... Five Months is Fabulous!!!!
  21. Awww, Jake...I so remember feeling this way. I mean, just because I smoked for 40 years...why shouldn't I be over it in a few weeks? All I can tell you is that it is a journey...your body cannot heal that quickly! But trust me on this...it keeps getting better and better....

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
