  2. Hi Sparkzzz! Welcome to the train Lots of your companions from QSMB here now and likely more will come unless they sort out the issues there. In the meantime, pull up a chair and relax. You are in good company here
  3. -1 Oh yeah - new rule .... Mods not allowed playing THIS game (Doreen, Jenny??)
  4. We each need to find our own way. The way that works for us. The main thing is that you find YOUR way!

  10. Yes, having a "quit buddy" can be a big plus. You will both be experiencing similar things at the same time
  11. Yes, what M5 said ...... keep well hydrated, get lots of sleep because the early days can be exhausting and the deep breathing really helps with the anxiety you may experience in the early days. Anything but smoking!! Also, be sure to get rid of any smoking materials you may have around. If there are no smokes handy, you can't cave in during a particularly strong craving to smoke. You have made the commitment so now .......... you are a Non-Smoker! Smoking is off the table for you now
  12. ^^^ A double post is ALWAYS better than no post at all !!!
  13. I'll see if I can dig up an appropriate Cat/Party Hat image, just for you
  14. -10 we need more men over here ....................
  15. I had a bunch but everyone is different so you may or may not have the same ones. I found the "brain-fog" the most difficult to deal with because I just couldn't focus on much for the first while. The anxiety of the early quit was tough - just had to keep distracted and power through it. Actually, coming here almost 24-7 was what really helped me keep myself occupied. The beauty about all these quit symptoms is ... they don't last forever. The benefits of quitting WILL last forever and, they just keep adding up the longer you stay smoke free
  16. Oh yeah .... we GET IT! That's for sure
  17. Welcome to Quit Train KT!! The first days are difficult Kris but you CAN get through them. I too quit cold turkey, first attempt, just over a year ago and I am still quit and barely even think about smoking anymore. The nicotine will be out of your system in roughly 3 days but it's the retraining your brain to function properly without the smoking ritual that takes a long time. Please read all you can here on the board. There's a ton of information and videos to help educate you about this addiction. Personal commitment, education and pledging daily in the Daily NOPE page are all key in keeping you on track. Stick close to the board for the next while. Take things just 1 hour, 1 day at a time. Don't look to far ahead. You are just quitting for today
  18. Welcome LQ! Glad to have you aboard. Take a seat here in 1st class and join in the discussions, the daily NOPE pledge and even play some games to keep yourself distracted. I think I almost lived on this form for the first while. I too quit cold turkey basically on a whim just over a year ago so YES it is possible. Personal commitment, educating yourself about this awful addiction and the support from others who "get it" will all be important tools in your quit journey.
  19. ^^^ Welcome LizQuit! Come join in the conversations and read all you can here about this horrible addiction we all share. Lots of info. in the "green pinned" threads at the top of the Quit Smoking Discussion Page
  20. Hi Jane & welcome (officially) Make yourself at home, now that you're here. We are a smaller group than what you are used to but we're generally speaking a fun group and in the end we are here to help everyone wanting to put this awful addiction behind them and we love to share everyone's victories and milestones right along with them
  21. You're on my list March 1st isn't far away now!
  22. Great job GITW!! 4 months is most impressive and getting to the point where you are probably feeling pretty good about your quit Be sure to treat yourself with something special before getting back to work

  24. Hoping to be healthier for longer so I can travel some when retired

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
