hello M'life. When the adrenalen from your trip dropped and the euphoria of your success abated it was a ripe time for your addiction to rear it's ugly head and make it's displeasure known. This is the addiction's last gasps. You will not be fooled into relapse. Smoking gives you nothing and you won't get the 'ahhhh' feeling anymore unless you have a few smokes, thus re-starting the addiction cycle. Why would you do this ? Right ? Embrace the suck, it won't last long. You will emerge victorious.

Today, I got caught in a downpour and was standing under a balcony. A car stopped . It wasn't a Cadillac or a Mercedes. The driver was a young man. He smiled at me, I smiled at him. He rubbed his fingers together signifying cash. I shook my head no and he frowned. What ? It made me smile...and laugh too.

YAY You, Deanna ! Congratulations on making one of the best decisions of your life. You may find the post helpful, Ten Ways To Effectively Use This Forum. Dosh was a major motivator in my quit. I put aside the cost of a pack a day and kept it in a mason jar. It was amazing how much money accumulated and Fast ! To think we paid to poison ourselves is beyond comprehension until you understand addiction, then it makes you furious.

I read on another thread, "On day 12 I forgot to put on a nicotine patch and didn't have any bigger cravings than normal so I haven't put one on since" This is splendid news @TobacNO ! I am really happy to hear that you are no longer administering nicotine to your body. Now, the real healing begins. Congratulations on your quit ! This really made my day, baby. Watch your blood sugar, drink water and fruit juice. Soon all that poison will be gone forever.

Great to see you have a successful quit, Jack. Thanks so much for checking in !

bump. again, I want to reiterate, All Quits Are Good Quits. There are no judgement calls on how your quit, the method doesn't matter. You need a personal commitment to NOPE, (Not One Puff Ever) ^^^^^^^^^^^this is the essential component^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I only mean to encourage anyone quitting smoking that cold turkey is not impossible or more difficult. It is merely a choice.

There is a lot of misinformation about when your body is completely clear from nicotine. It is more than a few days for your body to get rid of nicotine, a lot depends on how long/how much you smoked. Tar isn't expelled from the lungs quickly....it is tar for heaven's sake...you need gasoline to get it off your feet ! The good news is that, in time, it will leave your body completely and quit harassing the receptors in your brain. Please cut yourself some slack. Your body is working overtime purging out the nicotine and creating new, clean synapses in your brain. All this is serious healing that you cannot see, that is part of the magic. You can see and appreciate how far you have come in a short time. You can see how you have changed your patterns, how you have taken full control of your life ! You ARE free, part of you just hasn't caught up with the rest. I know you are tired of hearing us say, ' be patient, things will start to get a whole lot better' but, you have to trust us. We don't lie.
