Sugar Britches says to me: "Now I can't get that 'I'm an apeman' song out of my head." To which I responded: "You're welcome."

Should I go ahead and wing him now in case I'm not around when the votes are counted?

Welcome aboard Helmethermit. You've already jumped in. Might as well keep swimming. Got a couple of days under your belt. Your mind is adjusting. Your body is healing itself. How you got here isn't important anymore. More important is that you continue to build on the momentum you have. Keep in mind the two rules of quitting and you'll be good to go:(1) DON'T SMOKE! (2) If you have any further questions, refer back to rule number one.

Gotta do the whole "social distancing" thing, so it's more like...

The heavy bag is so simple and one of the greatest pieces of exercise equipment ever. Great for cardio, power, and stress relief. It is downright cathartic to punch the bag. Had a good workout this morning. I'm still doing my strength work on an ABAB schedule with workout A being devoted to pulling and workout B devoted to pushing. Today was a push day: Front Squats, Overhead Press, Bench Press, and Sled Push. Did fifteen minutes of jump rope and finished with a mobility session.

I remember when I was a kid, my grandfather was pushing an old wheelbarrow. When he tried to push it up on a concrete platform, the wheel broke off and rolled away. Instead of getting mad, he sang "you picked a fine time to leave me loose wheel." Sad news about Kenny Rogers...He had a good run though.

Perception and reality have a weird relationship as it is. Throw in the fact that our perception was altered by our addiction and things can get a little wacky. The reality is: you didn't smoke. You're good to go. With time, perception will better align with reality. Until then, stay firmly rooted in reality and detach yourself from any self-defeating perceptions.

I've been lifting on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and running on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Went down to Three Gorges this morning and ran 8 miles to Deep Creek and back. Trail running gives me a chance to get out in the woods all by myself and I built my own personal gym at home as I never enjoyed working out at commercial clubs. With this virus scare, I'm truly grateful that I always enjoyed exercising by myself.

Spring has sprung. Felt like a Spring day here on the Cumberland Plateau. Temperatures reached the mid-70s. Had a light shower this morning and a nice breeze blowing most of the day. The ladybug situation is a bit ridiculous around here, but I'm not complaining. Good times.

The choice is yours. You are in control. Cigarettes have as much or as little power as you give them. There's no need for hoping and wishing. The power to quit is entirely within your control. That's addiction for you. Break the cycle and set yourself free.

Back in the day, I would head over to Durty Nelly's on the North Shore of Chattanooga and get drunk as a five-eyed owl on St. Patrick's Day. Now, there's a Walgreen's where the pub used to be and I don't drink anymore. I'll be home for the evening...healthy green juice for everybody!

Score! A friend of mine found several bottles of the Knudsen Family brand "Just Blueberry" juice at a store in Hixson. I offered to pay for them, but he said it was a gift. When your pregnant wife is craving blueberry juice, you do what you have to do to score the juice.

I was listening to the Big Ass Happy Family Jubilee last night and heard this one for the first time in a long time...

I don't have enough proof to accuse anyone. That being said, I can't help but wonder if Doreen has a credible alibi.

Taking the blinders off. Facing some hard truths. Replacing delusion with reality. These things can be difficult but they are necessary for any meaningful progress to be made. The process of quitting is an exercise in self examination; some things we kept buried come right to the surface.

That is the entire essence of quitting smoking right there. You're doing great Ace. Keep it up.

It's been too long since I posted any Otis Redding here. There's a simple fix for that...

Hey...speaking of wiping your ass with dollar bills (how's that for a segue?), who here wants to hear Boo's theories about the Federal Reserve? Anybody? You in the back? Okay, maybe later.

Congratulations Marti. You were a pivotal figure in many a quit here. And we all added a few words to our vocabulary reading your posts. Thumbs up for Smarty Pants.
