-14 I'm just killing time waiting on a shipment of steel to get here. The driver was two-hours late thirty minutes ago...

  7. Ineptitude and dishonesty in the media are issues I came to terms with a long time ago. This current mob culture in the media is setting a dangerous precedent. That's why the story about the Jeopardy contestant caught my attention. Here's a guy that makes an innocent gesture on a television show and is now facing allegations that can cause serious harm to someone's professional and personal life. For the time being, I think you are safe. Of course, the rules change daily now.
  8. If you're keeping score at home... A few years ago, the guys at 4Chan started an internet hoax saying that the "OK" hand sign is a white supremacist gesture. The mainstream media ran with the story and labeled anyone who has been photographed using the "OK" hand gesture as a neo-nazi, white nationalist, and all-around not cool dude. And now, a recent contestant on the television game show "Jeopardy" is having to explain that he doesn't hate minorities and is not a domestic terrorist for the crime of holding up three fingers while being introduced as a three-time champion. I would say that American culture could not possibly get anymore f**king goofy, but I suspect it will.
  9. Welcome aboard Janice. The best time to quit is right now. There's no advantage in putting it off and the benefits of quitting begin the moment you ash out the last one.

  11. I know a guy named Alvin. Has a bad attitude and a punchable face. He's pretty easy to hate.
  12. Nicotine doubles the rate that the body depletes caffeine. An ex-smoker consuming the same amount of caffeine after quitting will feel like they have doubled their caffeine consumption. Probably not a bad idea to cut back on the caffeine when quitting smoking. Unless you need to stay awake for a while and walk to Pensacola for some reason.
  13. Don't put added pressure on yourself by feeling the need to be positive. Bad news elicits negative emotions, this is just the natural order of things. Stay strong Linda.
  14. Quitting smoking is largely a matter of time, patience, and repetition. The rough seas of the early days eventually give way to smooth sailing. Good job Robbie. Congratulations.

  18. I was pressed for time this morning, but did get in a bit of strength work: Squats, Romanian Deadlifts, and Overhead Presses. Finished up by pushing the prowler sled a few laps. You do what you can with the time you have.
  19. "Double meat." "Sandwich." "Something sexual." Note to self: sometimes you need to simply back away from the thread.
  20. Not to go off on a tangent here, but... The appeal to authority fallacy is likely the most dangerous of all the logical fallacies. Folks with impressive credentials and academic accolades are still human beings. Some of them have been corrupted. Others are dishonest. Some will speak with authority on issues that they are ignorant of. Be skeptical. Ask questions.
  21. My former dentist(he retired last year)had photos of his son and daughter the day they graduated from college on the wall in the reception area. With the amount of money I spent in there, I couldn't help but feel like I helped put those kids through school.
  22. Quitting smoking is not rocket science. You stop putting cigarettes in your mouth and setting them on fire. One step and done. It's a simple process. You have all of the knowledge you need. I'm not licensed or board certified, but that is some terrible advice from a therapist. Quitting smoking is one of the best things you can do for yourself physically and mentally. Self-medicating with nicotine is a dead-end loop. That was my experience. When you no longer live your life in varying degrees of nicotine withdrawal, things start to clear up a bit.
