  1. Way to go Joe! Keep it up. Getting closer and closer to one year!!!
  2. Wow Leanna! Such an accomplishment! Wish I was there already, but I'll take it one day at a time.
  3. So sorry about your neighbor Beacon, and for everyone and anyone who has suffered or watched a loved one suffer from COPD. Luckily, we have quit, but unfortunately we are not safe from all that bad stuff. I guess no one really is. All those people years ago who didn't even smoke, but were subjected to so much second hand smoke, they all have the same chances of getting something too. I pray that we all remain safe, and hope we all stay quit!
  4. I finally finished my dressing room/meditation room. I posted the pictures in the Gallery here. Take a look and tell me what you think? I personally love it. It turned out exactly how I pictured it.
  5. Jackie, you've done this so you know what you are heading for. But, the good news is that you are willing to get back up and dust yourself off. We are all human and as humans we do make bad judgement calls. I was not put here on this earth to judge you or anyone; I support you and your new quit. Many people fall several times when attempting to quit smoking. So yours happened to be a few days apart. You know you can do this, and me and everyone here are holding our hands out to you to grab on to. I understand stress and frustration and I understand the crave to smoke. We fool ourselves into thinking that smoking that cigarette is going to make everything okay. It's a lie, and we fall for it. Just keep that in mind next time you are craving; smoking doesn't help anything and the problems are still there when you finish smoking it. Know that I support you in your quit and that so many here want to see you be successful forever.
  6. I treated myself to a new chair (papasan chair; for those who don't know what that is it is kind of like a round bowl type chair that sits on a base and has a big cushion on it) and an area rug for my meditation/dressing room. Together they cost less than $200.00 US dollars, and I know I've saved more than that to date. So that was my treat for quitting.

    Who's Happy?

Too funny Marti. I wish I actually could dance like that! It was definitely the positive I needed in an otherwise very negative day Saturday. Thank you for bringing me back to reality.

    Who's Happy?

OMG Jenny! I LOVE IT! I really needed that laugh today! Marti, you fit all those looks really well! Great jobs guys and gals! Fun dancing with all of you.
  9. A big huge hug and thank you to all of you for the congrats. I can't believe I've made it to 3 months!!! I know at this point I am going to make it the rest of my life because I have the greatest support here at quittrain! I will tell you, you people are unbelievable. I love you all.
  10. So, after a very anxious filled and horrible night on another quit smoking site, I have decided that "there is no place like home." I cannot even fathom any new quitter that did not quit cold turkey being put through the absolute wringer the way the other site puts you through. God, don't EVER mention an e-cig either. You will be persecuted! I'm still so angry because of the censorship and deletion or hiding of threads and posts by the admins or owners of this other site. I will not mention the name here, but pray that no one finds it anymore because they are so biased it isn't even funny. I'm still shaking from the fight that went on last evening. I cannot allow this in my life. If anything were to lead me to relapse, that conversation last evening would be it. But, I will stay close to quittrain because I have found acceptance and love here. Thank you from the top, middle, and bottom of my heart for your support and encouragement. As I celebrate my 3 months free of smoking and cigarettes. I Love all of you for being kind.
  11. Chrysallis, so sorry you are having such a difficult time in your quit. What exactly is it that is causing you to crave so badly? Do you think that while you are in the midst of a bad crave you would be able to find a quiet place to sit and meditate? Meditation can help in so many different things. I use meditation to help with anxiety; especially when I am in the throws of an anxiety attack. It usually helps me to calm down and be able to move on. Perhaps this could work for you with cravings? Just a thought.
  12. CS, you are 7 months quit!!!! Woohoo! You go!
  13. Rez, I hope you have a wonderful, smoke-free birthday! The only smoke should be coming from your candles!!!!!!!
  14. Tracey! So very happy and proud of you! You made 9 months girl! YOU ARE ROCKIN THIS QUIT!
  15. Awwww, nice picture Jimmy. So lovely to see family photos!
  16. Joe, what beautiful daughters you have! Congrats to you and wife on some very pretty ladies. And, you can certainly tell they are sisters! Wow they all look very much alike. There were three of us girls growing up with 1 bathroom....not even a 1/2 bath. Just 1 bathroom. Didn't seem to be a problem. At least not that I remember....
  17. Well Happy 7 Months Comrade, and so sorry to hear of your health troubles. It is a scary thought, but luckily you got help and are on the mend. I agree with milking it for all its worth! :) Now, get your bum outta that bed and go walking. Running can wait for a little while. Get your heart healthy and continue to keep that smug smile on your face for quitting!
  18. Horrible things for diabetics like amputation removal of voice box worsening of retinopathy in the eyes lack of oxygen high blood sugar numbers
  19. Abigail, I get the "coffee and cigarette" thing in the morning to get you moving. I was exactly that. I have a routine in the morning, and its been going on for quite a few years now. I get up, start the coffee, feed the dogs, check my blood sugar, take my insulin, make my cup of coffee and watch the morning news to see the traffic report. When the dogs are done eating, I grab my cigarettes and take them outside. Now I don't need to go outside because our yard is fenced in, but I go outside to have a smoke. When the dogs are done and I'm done, back in and upstairs to begin getting ready for work. Well, that routine ended 3 months ago. I still have my coffee (mostly decaf now because I didn't know that caffeine has a much stronger effect when no nicotine), still feed the dogs and do the other stuff, but when I let them out, I stay inside now. I will go brush my teeth and get ready for my shower. When I let the dogs back in, I just start getting ready. No more grabbing the smokes. And you know what? It's okay. I adjusted. The first couple days were hard, but I feel like that was a lifetime ago. It is all just a matter of behavior modification. My only problem that I have now is that when I am at work, I used to go outside about once every hour to have a cigarette. Now I do not go outside, but I realize that I've been sitting at my desk for much longer time periods, so when I do get up, I'm all stiff and stuff. I really need to make a conscious effort to gete up and move around! Stick around. We are all here to help each other. I can tell you will fit in just fine! Woof! Sorry, I'm a dog person. But, I like kitty cats too.
  20. Beacon this was wonderfully put. I myself do not look at other people smoking and think to myself that they are lucky they get to smoke. No, they are choosing to smoke, as we have the right to do as well. But, we choose NOT to smoke. Perhaps one day those people who are smoking will wake up and realize what they are doing to themselves as well. Hopefully that day will be tomorrow; and if it isn't, then I pray to God they never fall prey to the detriment and health risks smoking can and will cause. I'm glad that you changed your mind and thought about how unfortunate for them. We are the lucky ones. We are the ones who woke up already and realized that we were doing such harm to ourselves. YAY US!
  21. Not for nothing, but did you see the vape cloud on #3? WOW! That is an insane amount of vapor! I found your article helpful Domingo. I don't really care what others think because I vape. It is helping me to stay quit, and with no nicotine, who am I hurting? Certainly not you or anyone else who has quit smoking. Oh, and just so you know, I still follow the rules of where I can and cannot vape. I do not vape anywhere that smoking is prohibited. It would be refreshing if you were able to apply your knowledge and experience with quitting where it truly is needed, as Sue stated. You have a clear slate here; I myself would be extremely happy if you applied your expertise to those who are in trouble of relapsing. I am not going to relapse. If anything, everyday brings me one step closer to putting down the vaping too. I'd like to be friends with you. I don't like animosity. So what say you?
  22. Sharon, sorry to see this post! Hopefully all will be cleared up and he'll be good to go! I know my sister had pneumonia years ago and had a very difficult time getting it cleared up. I swear it seemed like she battled it for almost a year. She had quit smoking many years before that as well. But, she did finally get it out of her system and she's fine now. Praying the same happens for your family.
  23. Susana, that's funny! Trying to compensate for not being endowed in other areas huh? ;) :P ^_^
  24. Thanks for that Domingo! Quite helpful to those of us who vape. Very kind of you.
  25. Susana, I can't really offer much more than what has been said here already. However, I really think you might want to avoid drinking alcohol during your quit at this time. Alcohol is a HUGE trigger when quitting. Since I've only been on this board for about a week or so, I am not familiar with your previous relapses. But, just the fact that you have relapsed tells me that you are struggling in your mind with this quit. You need to continually remind yourself that you do not smoke; you are a non-smoker. If you are solid in your quit, no neighbors smoking smells would bother me enough to cause me to romance that thought of smoking again. You must get it in your mind that you do not want to smoke; smoking will kill you; smoking will cause you to lose limbs; smoking will make you look older than you are; smoking causes wrinkles. Do you really want to deal with all that? No. You don't! I hope you fell asleep and are resting now. Hopefully you are dreaming about being smoke free and happy. Sweet dreams doll.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
