  1. Great job, Blur. Just let us know if you need any help. As everyone here said, education and support help in a huge way. You can get both here. Quitting can be tough but the reward of a life free from nicotine addiction is very much worth it. You are doing a great thing.

    Hit and Run

So far, so good on the Cole Hamels trade. Heck, he might be the ace of the Cubs staff at this point. A 0.72 ERA in 25 innings is awesome.
  3. Welcome to QuitTrain, Blur. I can relate to what you are saying about having had multiple failed attempts to quit smoking. I had a lot of short quits as well and grew very discouraged. What finally worked for me was joining and getting involved in a quit smoking forum like this one. I received a lot of support as well as knowledge about the addiction. Getting involved in a place like this is also a great way to hold yourself accountable in keeping your quit as well. Allen Carr really helped me but different things work for different people. Reading about others' experiences in quitting can really help give you insight and help you prepare for what you might go through. I don't think I really had a plan. I just read as much as I could about nicotine addiction in order to understand what I was trying to overcome, sought the support of others, and did what I could do to help others in return. A key moment for me was accepting that there really is nothing positive at all that comes from smoking. It is all negative. I was not giving up anything positive at all. I was actually making big steps towards living a better life by leaving smoking behind. Please feel welcome here. Everyone here has gone through what you are currently experiencing and we are here to help.
  4. Nice to see you, Niecie! Welcome to QuitTrain.
  5. Congratulations Kermit! 7 months smoke free is great!
  6. I know it doesn't feel this way but you are doing great, Linda. What you are going through is normal and, as everyone else has said, things do get much better in time. The first few weeks are the toughest but you are doing a great thing by beating this addiction. Stay tough. Your quit gets stronger when you fight through situations like this and win.
  7. A couple of power-ballads from my high school years I know many considered cheesy but I liked
  8. I smoked for roughly 20 years. At first (in college), I felt it was cool but as the years since then passed, I slowly began to realize that I had grown miserable as a smoker and wanted to quit. What was once a social habit had become an anti-social one as I ducked out on so many social situations just to smoke and calm my nicotine addiction. I realized I was missing out so much in life by disappearing to light up. Weirdly enough, the cost (both health-wise and financially) were factors in me wanting to quit but not the main ones. I just felt I was becoming increasing isolated as a smoker in an increasingly non-smoking world. I simply grew to believe that I was wasting my life away by having my life centered around those stupid cancer-sticks. Once I finally quit for good, it really changed my life in an incredible way.
  9. Welcome to QuitTrain, Christa. I'm sorry to hear about your stepson. ? You are doing a good thing by quitting smoking, though, and I'm glad you have made it through your first three days. As you know, the early days are the toughest but it does get easier and health scares can really play a reality check in inspiring us to quit for good. Like QSMB, there is a lot of support here that can help you stay quit for good. Keep up the great work with your quit. It is good to have you here.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
