  13. Thanks, I didn’t know there were 2 Manly’s , yes we did go from Sydney. I remember the restaurant advertised a different special each day, so we were glad we went on fish and chips day. I am envious you live in Oz, we both loved it there, started off in Cairns, went to the Great Barrier Reef, hired a car and drove all the way down Great ocean road, did Philip island, Sydney, bridge climb, blue mountains, Byron bay, Wilson’s prom and lots of other things, was the best holiday ever.
  14. Gday Thats Manly in Sydney. I’m in Manly Brisbane and the boat harbour is in a the waters of Moreton Bay. Yes you can get a good feed of fish and chips on the waterfront too.
  15. Loved the ride over to Manly on the ferry, the best fish and chips we ever ate was at Manly cafe/restaurant.
  16. NOPE!! Where is that picture from @Cbdave?
  17. And I said …. 6
  18. I forgot how long this lethargy lasted for me. Seems to be dragging on? I know I wrote about this during the last quit I will have to keep looking. KTQ
  19. @johnny5 I haven't heard him singing Prince's version of Nothing Compares 2 before, I love it! 😊
  20. Gday I used to say…. I have a bushman’s breakfast. A pee a smoke then a quik look about. Or …. I always exercise before have my first smoke. I Run to the loo then have a smoke. A way of protecting my frail ego and justify my habit. So the narrative in your head has to change. Like Paul said face it with Attitude!
  21. @Stewbum and @Pilgrim You will get through it because the longer you don't smoke, the more the withdrawal will go away.👍 If I can quit, anyone can! The only thing that will take it away is not smoking and time. I remember how impatient I was because I wanted the cravings to go away on Day 1, but unfortunately it doesn't work that way. Just keep doing what you are doing and you both will succeed. 💪
  22. Thanks Pilgrim. The daily tough times do really test a person's resolve. The thoughts of Puffin Pain and cardiac arrest are a little stronger for now! Still doesn't make the cravings any less powerful. KTQ .
  23. Thanks so much Cat. I am "slowly" staying busy changing an old flower bed to include a new Magnolia tree.
  24. I'm glad you're home. Before you even get out of bed each morning, start with a positive affirmation. It can be something simple like, "I'm glad I don't have to smoke anymore." Attitude is a big part of quitting.
  25. Thanks girls I appreciate the comments more than you know. Time for a walk.
  26. Good to hear your home Be armed and ready , when that monster comes calling Your already a Non Smoker , all you have to do is stay that way , spending time with your furry friend sounds a Great way to spend some time It will keep you active too Post everyday … 🐸
  27. Your cravings returning home to your safe haven after such a traumatic experience is absolutely understandable. And since you DO understand the why, and know that time smoke free makes it "eventually" better I wish you patience. Keep moving through them, whatever it takes to come out the other side of this addiction. You've done it before ... rinse, repeat. Welcome home!
  28. Glad you made it home Stew and I bet you are too!! Unfortunately our addiction does not care a tinker's damn what's going on in our bodies or what the state of our health is, in fact it's a perfect time to attack us with cravings, when it believes we're at our weakest. Good that you actually realize what's going on there and still have the will to deny those powerful cravings. That's a great sign that you're ready to beat this thing on a long term basis. Keep busy, stay occupied and good health to you!
  29. SD. Thank you. I woke up to a beautiful morning with a clean attitude. Trying to decide what I can do that won't affect my physical recovery and keep me occupied for this mental recovery. I think I'll take my dog swimming. KTQ
  30. Well, progress has been made. I got past the Sunday. I've had my son since friday evening. My final cigarette was on the Friday just gone. It was a lot easier getting through the Sunday knowing he was going to be staying with me. I've hardly thought or had any urges whilst he's been here. I've got him until the coming Sunday evening 4th August. With kicking through this Sunday then a barrier has been broken down. The Sundays were always the hardest.
  31. Thanks for all the help again people, most appreciated. I will use the stuff you have mentioned when Sunday comes round again. It's the biggest hurdle for me to overcome. Something DenaliBlues said really hit home. In that having that ciggie because you think it will make you feel better and it actually makes you feel worse. So, so true.
  32. When I was still on the quitting/failing/quitting/failing merry go round, I didn’t realize that smoking made me feel worse, not better. Stepping off that cycle is hard, but you’ll be so proud of yourself when you do - and you will cherish your freedom. I like your note that you will need to do something different this coming Sunday. Make a plan and stick to it. Be especially vigilant any time you are HALTed… Hungry, Angry, Lonely or Tired. We (ab)used nicotine to take the edge off those feelings, and they can be big triggers. Quitting is a time of experimenting with new responses, not relying on smoking to pickle our feelings. Try again - you CAN do this!
  33. Do you know what triggered you to smoke at that particular time? If you can identify your triggers then you can better plan to avoid them although staying quit always comes down to commitment and sometimes sheer willpower just to get past some of the most challenging times of your early quit. Did you make sure you have no easy access to smokes when you first quit? That's a big one. You can smoke what you don't have!!
  34. This place is a great help as it has been in the past for me. I just need to harness it with my own willpower aswell. Stick with quit train, the help off the people on here is great
  35. Welcome back, tocevoD. It's a great idea, I think, to get back to the gym on a regular basis: this was a crucial dimension of my own quit. I paired that with some significant changes in my diet as well, hoping that the fitness and food would give me things in which I could actively engage and on which I could focus my attention (instead of on the thing I was ostensibly denying myself). Another way to say this is that I began a self-improvement project centered on HEALTH, of which quitting smoking was just one (super important) part. Whatever approach you use (and, BTW, the "Ben and Jerry's Plan" is just as legitimate and noble as my more abstemious one), we know you can do it and will be cheering you on. 36. I will not give any advices as I am just going through my first day. However I do understand what it feels like to fail with addiction and how much we want to be clean although running to the shop later and buy a new pack. So...I wish you all the strenght and lets post everyday here. I believe in the communicty power, we all know that nicotine addiction brings abslutely ZERO positivity and kills all thebeauty inside of us.
