May 7, 201511 yr My mum hates it all though proud, I fling open all the doors and windows when I go visit :) One of my sister's vapes and has done since september she is finally starting to think to come off it The other sister is proud and is thinking about quitting - she has terrible lungs and chest!! My partner thinks it's ace ;)
May 7, 201511 yr lol...topic cracked me up Family was skeptical at first...because I have "attempted" quitting before and I guess they didn't want to get their hopes up -my daughter and son who do not smoke. The other smokers didn't believe I could sustain a quit. So they would watch and wait. But as time went on they saw that I was still quit and not only quit but not miserable doing it. 2 more family members quit since then. 2 more to go...and they still watch with envy. Maybe some day they will board the quit train.
May 7, 201511 yr Oh I was so intrigued....l.ol..... Well my grown up kids are so proud of thier mum.,they too thought I would die a smoker.... They are always giving me a pat on the back.... And I was given ted...my 10 month British blue...he loves his no smoke home ...
May 7, 201511 yr At 4 1/2 months in, I haven't told all that many people. Most family and friends who do know are shocked, cautiously optimistic and happy for me. One bro asked every time we spoke if I was still not smoking. I finally asked him to stop asking and just consider it true. <nice work sonic>
May 7, 201511 yr I am just doing what is normal to them now so I don't get any ranting now about my smoking... that is the best thing ever... not much kudos but hey... yay to you and me!
May 7, 201511 yr My family has been supportive and awesome about it, my cousin-in-law just quit a week or so ago because of a hospital scare plus a diagnosis of copd. She is doing awesome so far......I am proud of her and have told her so.....her sister keeps quitting and relapsing every time something stresses her out. I am not sure what to say to her to be honest.......I do not want to push because that is not going to be helpful but she also has been diagnosed with early stages of copd. She has to want it more to be successful in my opinion. I have offered ideas on alternatives to smoking in coping with stress but she still finds a reason to smoke. One day maybe.....she has to come to it on her own. Now her sister though I honestly never thought she would quit ever she was hard core but the health issue was enough to scare her into quitting and she stated to me that she knows that she can not have just one that she will be back to smoking full time so she does not want to start again even though it is a rough road but she is stubborn enough to do what she puts her mind to.
May 8, 201511 yr Glad you asked Big bonus: I have grandchildren who have NEVER seen me smoking, All of them 7 years or less old...that would be like 5 out of 7 of them who never had to ask me where I was going when I was sneaking out to smoke. That matters most to me, and to their mom's and dads.

That matters most to me, and to their mom's and dads. That's awesome Markus! My first grandchild also never seen her mom mom smoke. That will be true for any future grandchildren as well. Too cool. :)
May 8, 201511 yr Great post Sonic and of course nothing less then an intriguing title from you! My kids were guarded at first, but are pretty proud of mom. I have tried NUMEROUS times to quit and always failed. My two little grand babies will never know Gigi as a smoker! A big motivator for me. Lately, for whatever reason I have had some strong cravings..really at 7 months?? Boating season begins. Our boat just got put in the water at the marina and I need to keep my quit strong. Many smokers there and this will be my first season not relaxing with a smoke and a drink on the boat. Hears to New beginnings! On a positive note, there are now 3 other non smokers at work because of my quit!! I love this being able to motivate and support others...some are lurkers here and hopefully will join QT in time.
May 8, 201511 yr Lol at the title. My Dad and my daughters are over the moon. Especially my 9 year old Milly, she's the one who was so forgiving of every failure and it just made me keep trying again. She worries a lot for her Nan (who has said too much about copd/heart failure being related to smoking) but says she's relieved it's not me anymore. The 5 year old likes we do more now. The rest of them didn't comment other than like first week and a year lol. I guess my sisters are pleased but they both still social smoke and see me as a "reformed smoker". Chris quit a week after me and was in the easy peasy crew, don't smoke, don't whinge about other smokers or your lack of it and get on with it :) My driving force was my daughters to start, but I never really got supported or not by my family. xx
