Last night's smoking dream

Featured Replies

Last night I dreamt that I smoked. I remember that in my dream I thought, "No! Don't take a puff!"

But I did take a puff and found that it was great so I smoked the whole cigarette. And then all was lost. :(

My take away here is that the concept of Nope is important, even in dreams.

Absolutely...I'll bet you were scared when you first woke up!! (and your awake brain knows that it would not be great, at all)

I had one of those dreams at my 9 month mark and when I logged on that morning (before I had my first swig of perfectly brewed coffee) I was still under the impression that I had lost my quit.  They sure can seem real.

A very interesting video about smoking dreams.  Very interesting.

Thankfully I haven't had a smoking dream yet. Plenty of very vivid Chantix dreams though.

I hate those dreams with a passion. I've woken up in a panic many times :(

I still get them all the time, I'm not bothered about them anymore - I just enjoy the feeling of relief when I wake up :)

I get them sometimes, last week I smoked 3 in my dream and was gutted with myself but woke up and was chuffed it wasn't real but I have to say it doesn't bother me at all having the dreams, it just makes me feel even prouder of myself when i wake up, I kinda like them.

I used to get them - but they seem to have faded away now...

I guess it is all part of the sub-concious getting hold of the concept...part of the healing process.

Hopefully it was a one off, and you won't have another.  They really do suck :(

1. The Dream. …. Sucks.

2. Knowing that your quit is still intact when you wakeup. ….. Priceless. :)

I'm glad it was just a dream for you!

I am still waiting to have one of those!

The video MQ posted above by Joel is good. The smoking dreams are a good thing

I too used to have smoking dreams within my first 3 months of my quit. Haven't had one in quite some time now.

That would be a nightmare not a dream ughhh

I haven't had a smoking dream in a while, but the ones I did have sucked wind for sure.

I do have dreams about people here on the quit forums - often, actually.  I guess I spend too much time here, even though I really haven't been here that much lately.  :)

Last night (or maybe the night before), I had a dream about deltawings.  I dreamed that after he posted his "ladies and gentlemen" thread he was bummed because there was not a chat party as he had hoped.  In real life I don't know if there was a chat party that night.  So he PM'd me and said he was sad cuz no one showed up to that chat party, so he changed his avatar to the blank one.  :(

So, Delta - change your avatar pronto!!!  We love and miss you young one! :)  Chat party or not. :)
