June 28, 201412 yr I don't want to post this on the main board cause I know it's just a stupid phase that will be short lived. I went to train tonight, went to baseball practice and then out to eat. Walked in the house and it just hit me like a ton of bricks........ my body wants a cigarette. It came on hard and strong. And it's still here. I dont' even know what the freaking trigger was. I'm not in any danger of smoking. As a matter of fact, I am just typing this to waste time until this feeling passes. If I had done this right when I started this journey, I would have over a year quit now and wouldnt' be going through this. So I am determined to be there one year from now. Smoking is not an option anymore. I'm a non smoker. I'm a non smoker with a brain that's in denial at the moment. But I'm still a non smoker. I think I'm gonna go to bed. I know this will go away while I'm sleeping and I can wake up feeling much better.
June 28, 201412 yr Hey Tiffany - those out of no- where craves suck - so you have my sympathy and I always felt sleeping them off was a good tool - so great decision ! I hope you feel better in the morning and it will get better but in the interim remember to ask us for support if you need it !
June 28, 201412 yr I think it would help others struggling to see they are not alone. Believe it or not, I was driving to work this morning and I thought,"I've never seen anyone not want to smoke as much as Tiff." This is temporary. When I understood that everyone pretty much, not just 'my addictive personality,' got addicted to nicotine, and fully embraced the fact that cigs offer nothing to me and that I was not missing out, I could see happiness without smoking. You just gotta ride out the bumps, not always easy for all of us, but so worth it. Glad you posted!
June 28, 201412 yr Real shockers these ones... You got it Tiff. Once in a while, brute force and ignorance works. Part of us wants to believe in the cigarette as a reward, as a pat on the back at the end of a good active day. It isn't. It would taste like crap, make us feel dizzy and disappoint us. Beating the crave - 'Atta Girl!
June 28, 201412 yr well done Tiff recognising these moments and doing what it takes for it to pass is the way to move forward keep holding onto the rope and you will pill through x
June 28, 201412 yr Great work Tiffany - identifying those craves, and squashing them :) I hope you feel better today ;)
June 28, 201412 yr Right now your body is busy at work undoing much of the damage you've caused it by smoking. Don't undo the process of healing that's been started because of a crave or a false desire to smoke. Remember, you're in control of your body and what you do with thoughts as they enter your mind. You can't control what pops into your head but you can control whether or not you dwell on them, act on them or dismiss them. You're now in the driver's seat and in complete control. I agree, I think this thread could help guests who might be struggling with the same thoughts.
June 28, 201412 yr you are a solider in training...remember that I always found that triumphant days were followed immediately by rough days...or moments. Then...another great day (or moments) up and down and up and down and slowly.....the up and down levels out...maybe not so up...but not so down..just calm. you've got this girl!!
June 28, 201412 yr Author I do have this y'all !!! And I am now 15 days smoke free !!!! Thanks to each and every one of you. I dont' know why it hit like that last night. But the difference is this...... Imagine your at a baseball game and all the roaring is going on, people yelling and screaming. Well that's what it feels like sometimes with the cravings. But imagine there is this little mouse somewhere in the stands with a little squeak saying "you can do this, you don't want to smoke, just give it a little more time." Well today, I can hear that mouse LOUD AND CLEAR !!! He is louder than any yell, thought or crave. I finally got this. :D
June 28, 201412 yr I am sorry I missed this. Sleep is a real powerful tool and people don't recognise the re set value of it. Deep breaths help. Cleaning something covered in nicotine used to squash a lot of craves cause yuk. I see you have it covered tiff :) Just agreeing and pleased your free really! xx
