We're doing some interior work on Maddie's playhouse before I put the roof on. Sugar Britches refurbished a small kitchen cabinet. Now Maddie will have a countertop with storage space below in her house. I added a wall-mounted mailbox next to the door and put a small woodpecker door knocker on the door. The playhouse is very close to being finished. The completion date is a fluid one as we keep coming up with new ideas. Meanwhile, Miss Maddie is busy figuring out how to climb stairs. She uses her right leg to push up and get her left leg on the first step. Then she drops her left leg to use it to push and get her right leg up on the first step. Right now, her problem is that she ends up right back where she started. She'll figure it out. The little gal has a stubborn streak. Monday night, we had a thunderstorm here. As I've mentioned before, Maddie does not like thunder. Sugar Britches was holding her. I was reading her a story. Even Cash piled up on the couch next to her. During the height of the storm, Maddie pointed outside and said: "Deke, Deke." In spite of being scared, she was worried about the donkeys...such a sweet little girl.
September 1, 20215 yr Thanks Sweetie... A great update ...would love to see this house when you finish ...the little finishing touches are important . Sounds like a place she will be happy to spend so much time there ....😁 Lovin these little cute names Maddie has for he favourite things ....funny how we understand exactly what Each means ... Nanny Toad hates thunderstorms too.... I'm sure it won't be long before she works out those stairs .... Most find them tricky .... Hugs to our Princess 💕

At least I thought I was done. Then Jordan posted the picture of a playhouse with a deck. Now, I'm thinking an addition might be in order. Maddie spent a good bit of yesterday playing in her new house. I don't know what important piece of mail she's waiting on, but she checks her mailbox every couple of minutes. We wrote her some little notes and put pictures of penguins that we found online in there. She put several small rocks that she found around the yard in her cabinet...I guess if she needs them, she knows right where they are. We also had a small bag of apple slices on the front porch. Maddie would grab a slice and walk over to give the donkeys a treat. I tell ya what...moving into a new place leads to a bunch of new chores.
September 8, 20214 yr Oh Boy !!! I read all your post ,sitting there with the biggest smile on my face ... I had this picture in my mind ...of a cutie playing house..... Wonderful...... Maddie will have years of fun....and I love the idea of little notes left in the mailbox... Pure genius ... Have lots of happy hours little Princess..❤
September 20, 20214 yr Author Add artist and runner to the long list of Miss Maddie's talents. It has been a rainy weekend here, so we've spent a lot of time in the house. Maddie has made use of her crayons and coloring sheets. The funny thing is, when she colors, she has a very serious look on her face and will sometimes stick her tongue out concentrating. The little gal is producing art. The refrigerator at Casa de Boo is now adorned with blue and yellow penguins and red elephants. Every aspiring artist needs to blow off a little steam from time-to-time. Maddie does this by running full speed and falling into her beanbag chair. She can really get those little legs churning now. There is a bit of confusion with another one on the way. We've tried to explain that mommy has a baby in her tummy. Maddie now calls Sugar Britches "baby" instead of "muh-ma." The whole miracle of childbirth thing is still a little hard for me to wrap my head around, so it's totally understandable that a one year-old is gonna have a lot of questions.
September 28, 20214 yr Author "Yeah Buddy!" I was throwing one of Cash's chew toys around the den last night. He runs and fetches it. Maddie has a good laugh watching him run around the house. It's fun for the whole family. When Cash catches something on the fly, I always say: "Yeah Buddy!" Maddie caught on and let out with a "Yeah Buddy!" of her own. I told her: "go tell your mama, yeah buddy." She toddled over to Sugar Britches and let it rip: "Yeah Buddy!" It was only a matter of time before I started introducing phrases from the hillbilly lexicon into Maddie's vocabulary.
September 28, 20214 yr Just be careful, my husband (without me knowing) taught my son to say "oh what a babe". I first heard this going through Home Depot when a lady passed by. I was shocked and laughed so hard I thought I was going to pee my pants. They had been practicing on there boy outings LOL K

When my sister was a baby and I hadn't been born yet, she was sitting in the backseat while my dad tried to get back on the interstate in Jacksonville, Florida. She repeated what my dad said driving: "Aw, Sit!" Mom tried to nip it in the bud, but dad thought it was hilarious. One year-olds are very perceptive and quick to repeat certain phrases.

I would always correct my husband's driving, which started with me yelling out "David" - your driving to fast etc. My granddaughter became a really pro at it when she was 2 yrs old. She would mimic me from the back seat yelling "David". It always cracked us up. Your little sweetie is growing so fast. Look out world, here she comes!

All Maddie needs is a soft landing spot and she'll really throw herself into a pratfall. The little gal has a solid appreciation of slapstick comedy. Speaking of Maddie and her adventures...From time-to-time I like to watch some of Dale Brisby's show on Netflix and his videos on YouTube. Maddie likes to watch the cowboys ride bucking broncs. She claps and says "Deke." She thinks the rodeo horses are the same as our donkeys. Peanut and Shorty are not prone to bucking, but our little cowgirl may be ready for some rodeo time.
October 13, 20214 yr Author Papa Boo got caught flat-footed last night. We have a paper shredder in our home office. I was going to empty out the shredded papers from the can last night. Removed the shredder from the top of the can and went to get a garbage bag. I got distracted during the process and forgot all about the shredder. Maddie was toddling around looking for something to get into. What she found was a five gallon garbage can full of shredded papers. Long story short...we had an impromptu confetti party at Casa de Boo last night.

He gave Maddie a warning bark when I started walking towards the office. With two kids and their canine cohort getting into something all the time, me and Sugar Britches are going to have to keep our heads on a swivel around here. Edited October 13, 20214 yr by Boo
October 26, 20214 yr Author We were getting a little worried. Found the perfect Halloween costume for Maddie, but the shipping was delayed. Got a call from Sugar Britches this afternoon...the FedEx driver came through in the nick of time. Miss Maddie is the cutest little penguin in the world. She doesn't care much for the little webbed feet that came with the costume, but other than that she seems quite content in her "Gwen" costume. Got a busy weekend filled with tricks, treats, cornfield mazes, and hayrides scheduled.
October 26, 20214 yr How fun for you all @Boo. Not just new experiences for Maddie but also for you and sugar britches. Have a great time!🤗
October 27, 20214 yr Aww... A cute little Gwen ....😁 What a fun packed weekend .... Have a great family time .....these are the best 👍🐸
November 9, 20214 yr Author Maddie wants a Harley Davidson Road King for Christmas. Lamar is an old friend of mine. He and his new girlfriend went for a ride in the mountains to enjoy the weather and checkout the fall colors. They stopped by the house last night for a quick visit. Maddie was enjoying sitting on the bike, then Lamar cranked it up. Every time Lamar revved the engine, Maddie squealed with delight and clapped her hands. Last night, Maddie climbed onto the armrest of the couch and started going "vroom, vroom!" Looks like any future trips to Disney World may have been replaced with trips to Daytona and Sturgis.
November 10, 20214 yr You might be able to find her a battery operated one when she is big enough. My son got a red jeep, just like his Dad's when he was four. I got the grandson a spiderman car four his fourth christmas. Let me tell you that one was hard to put together. K
