July 6, 20206 yr Author Latest from Melbourne....3 figure new case day...9 housing commission towers (300) people locked in with police enforcing the do not leave your flat rule. These are government housing...lowest socio economic group, at risk members of society who are mow essentially in prison lockdown... food packs contain out of date products, there are high numbers of addicts with methadone being provided for heroin users but nothing for ice addicts, smokers, alcoholics, etc....no one can leave their front door for 5 days at least and until every resident is tested...So we have compulsory testing...I just have a bad feeling about this.
July 6, 20206 yr Smokers without cigs for 4 or 5 days? Yeah, that won't go well 😱 Edited July 8, 20206 yr by reciprocity
July 6, 20206 yr Corona Virus has stopped my ticker! Seriously folks, my ticker stopped counting in April sometime. Just about the time the Virus took hold here in North America. Be careful! Put a mask on your ticker before this also happens to you 😷
July 7, 20206 yr G’day Jo Im so sorry you have to go back in to stage three. Stay safe. my son lives in Melbourne as well as notsmokinjo. The restaurant he gets some part time work at is closed. The chefs partner tested positive. ( a health worker). So he’s at home waiting for his test results to come back when the new shut down happened. What a crazy world it is.... let’s hope this keeps things in control. I really feel gratitude and thanks to all in Melbourne for thier sacrifice ..... it must be hard a sad Chris
July 7, 20206 yr Stay safe Jo and Birdy ..... Nicky is ok in Canberra.......things can change so fast....
July 8, 20206 yr So right, @Doreensfree! Back in beginning of June, I drove from NY to NC (North Carolina) to visit my boyfriend. At that time, we here in NY were the epicenter of the virus and things were still bad. He kept telling me that I should stay down there with him..."it's safer here". Now here we are in early July, and my boyfriend is coming from NC to NY to visit me....and NY has just declared that anyone coming in from one of 14 states that are seeing large amounts of positive virus cases will require a mandatory 14 day quarantine....with his state now in that list!!!

So the message I'm getting here from @Rozuki post is that this virus thing is in some cases starting to mess with our relationships which are a critical part of our human experience. Situations and circumstances that we never even gave any thought to only a year ago. In my case, my mother is gonna be 100 years old later this year. At this point, I can't travel to the part of the country where she lives but it's not like we can move the date of this event. I want to throw a special party for her at a classy place with all the trimmings. Good food, family members and friends (if I can find any that are still alive - lol). Something she'll enjoy even if it's just for her centennial day. She really does deserve at least that but at this point things aren't looking good that we can make that happen 😢 Hope I don't have to wait until she's 200 and celebrate her bicentennial!
July 8, 20206 yr Aww this is sad P !!! One hundred is so special .... I too have a big milestone birthday at the end of the year ... No P ....not a hundred !!...god knows if I'll be celebrating.... Not being able to get on a plane and visit Nicky when I want is .......crap .......
July 8, 20206 yr Author Thanks @Cbdave.... I think I needed to hear/read those words of support because as crazy as it sounds I've been feeling a bit ostracized by the other states. It kindof sucks that we were the last to lift restrictions and everuone else was laughing at us for it but we are the ones to get the 2nd wave, not that is want any of you other mob to cop it. Hope your son gets a negative result and is managing ok. 39 mins left and we are back to lockdown. @reciprocity....maybe things will ease up a bit on Canada before your mum's birthday.

So sorry Reci! This has left us so powerless. Your mom is probably the most understanding because she has already been through some tough times in her lifetime. A virtual party just doesn't cut it for a 100th birthday party!
July 8, 20206 yr That really is a reason to celebrate @reciprocity, I sure hope that this thing is contained enough for you to get to honor your mom and her 100 years
July 8, 20206 yr We'll see what happens. Her birthday isn't until November 17th so might be OK to travel by then to the Province she lives in? They're being pretty cautious about opening up to travelers at the moment. Hopefully, we don't get a second wave during flu season which usually starts here Oct/ Nov.
July 9, 20206 yr @reciprocity- I sure hope you get to celebrate your Mom's 100th as you would like to! 😷

July 13, 20206 yr Governor Newsom shut our county, among others, down today because of idiots not wearing masks or social distancing. Lots of businesses closing their doors for a second time this year because of it 😞
July 14, 20206 yr Our Boris says in 10 days time ,we must all wear masks in shops or be fined ... Always late ....
July 14, 20206 yr Author Our state medical dude has been pleading for everyone to wear masks.....and they wonder why Melbourne has a second wave worse t than the first... Im sure his chin is safe from the Rona.

July 17, 20206 yr Author Well Queensland built a wall ... so @Cbdave how's it fell living behind the wire? Edited July 17, 20206 yr by notsmokinjo
July 17, 20206 yr G’day Jo Well the walls down now. And that borders open. Got to see my nieces from NSW. Got to see and hold my great nephew he’s 5 week old. Even got some Hugs and kisses from the “rels” ((relatives). So missed is family time. Bitter sweet cause we talked family stuff and we have have lost some distant cousins in England to the virus. Died and buried without thier family around them really bought it to us how rotten this pestilence is. Jo, please bunker down and beat the sheet to a holt. We can’t get to the stage where We are burying our nearest and dearest in mass graves like is happening now around the world. Please don’t ever lose hope.... the day will come when the Snags will be again on at the big green shed...... thanks Chris
