Looks like our county is pretty much reopening with the exception of bars and entertainment venues. Face masks will be mandatory for workers of those establishments that are allowed to reopen.

I'm a restaurant manager at a busy Irish pub so I go a few weeks before I go back

I'm going to live like the quasi recluse as usual.  I like seclusion even though I can get a bit squirrel like...

Airports are still going to be petri dishes so,  no lovely long distance adventures.

Hope the virus doesn't spike but, well....I listen to science and not overly optimistic, shall we say.

Hope your joint has decent protocols happening when you do return @Mac#23.

I worry about all my service industry friends here and my musicians !  How is that going to work out ? sigh.

We about to open up too....in certain area,s.....

I'm quite happy to sit and wait and see what develops ....they are trying to get this track and trace app off the ground ...but as usual nobody knows anything ...it's a shambles ....

We have one of those apps @Doreensfree....about 4mill have taken it up...we call ours Covid-safe....I don't have it....it makes me feel a little bit tin hattish. There was talk of it being compulsory but that's a sure fire way to get Aussies not to use something. It has successfully tracked 1 person infected but still not keen.

G’day

Wow what a diferent world.

Despite the spike in cases here and it appears no regard for our hospitals capacity I guess it had to happen eventually though...…………...

Three Covid cases were just detected in the retirement home that my grandmother lives in.  From what I have heard, my grandmother is ok.  Covid spreads so quickly in places like that though..

The daily infection rates are increasing in both my county and North Carolina in general.  NC is started to be mentioned on a regular basis with states like Texas and Arizona as places where infection rates are really increasing.

NC's governor has been reluctant to re-open things too fast but I think the political pressure and opposition are dictating things here now, not science.

I do work for NC's state government though and at they are being extremely cautious.  I am grateful for that.

The private sector, though, is more of a mixed bag.

A lot of people are walking around like the virus is behind us and don't seem to care at all.  We'll see, I guess.

Same around here. The home my mother in law was in lost 50% of their residents back in March. She already passed a couple years ago but it's scary for sure. The outbreaks here opened up a can of worms because the level of care was discovered to be ...... well ..... let's just say less than acceptable 😞

Hope your Grandmother is OK and they nip the issue in the bud at her home Johnny!

We still can't do jack around here. Guess the only thing I miss is getting together with family members who don't live with us and maybe taking off for a small road trip to another Province but all that is still not allowed yet. Soon maybe .... soon?

We could learn something from you @reciprocity. Cases are going up all over the world because of reopening too soon. So be glad that Canada is being more strict. I wish California would be. I can't believe with cases rising daily that our county would go ahead with reopening bars. There's no way to keep a room full of drunks social distanced I guess we'll see the ramifications of those actions in about ten days or so....  😞

I agree Jill....I'm just waiting a few weeks to see what happens in the UK ...

All these protesters ...and alot of stuff opening ...I'm just sitting off .....

People now want the 2 metres scrapped to 1 ....now crazy ...

In some parts of the country the number is still high ...

Most stuff is now opened, except the boarders between most of the states. Looks like they'll reopen next month unless there is a second wave. Most of our new cases are from overseas travellers in quarantine...although we are expecting a post protest spike in the next week or so.

@johnny5...keeping you and your grandma in my thoughts.

Our county's plan to continue reopening personal care businesses beginning Friday has been paused due to increased numbers in the last week. They're going to talks with the state next week to see if we need to pull back more or resume reopening.

I really think they opened bars way too soon here and didn't do anything about the bars that weren't suppose to be open yet. Time will tell I guess........

How come some bars can open while other's can't? Is it just bars with outdoor patios that can open?

They're talking about opening things up here soon as well. The case count has been down and fairly steady. We have a population of 450,000 in the regional area I live in. Current active case count is 31. Over the course of the pandemic, we've had around 780 cases in total with 26 deaths (mostly at seniors homes). We'll see what the effect is when they start to open things up. My own observations have been that the younger people are not taking restrictions very seriously although more that 50% of the cases have involved people under 50 years of age. I guess it's the "invincibility" thing that comes with being younger?

We won't be opening any bars for at at least a couple more weeks in phase 4. Even then it's going to be tough to get people to social distance when they're drinking.
