  1. Congrats Brennan, that's awesome!
  2. That's crazy! What's really shocking is how long it appears to take to regenerate. Still I am always amazed at the bodies capacity to heal itself once you stop poisoning it. Good post! I'll gladly add that to the list of reasons I don't smoke anymore
  3. Age is a huge factor. I'm 23 and likely would not have quit at all if not for the outside push of my grandparents passing in quick succession due to smoking related illnesses. I recognized in those moments I didn't want to make others feel the way I did in 40 or 50 years so I resolved to stop it now, but it certainly wasn't for health, financial or other reasons. Now that I'm on the other side I don't even see the feeling of being in the "in" crowd or seeming cool. My smoking friends still treat me exactly the same. I think those thoughts are just another tendril nicotine uses to keep you held close. I wish I could help people my age to quit without having to go through some shattering trauma, but it is very difficult to make things land. I welcome any suggestions if you've got em.
  4. I have not and will not smoke today. NOPE!
  5. Early start today, but incomplete without a NOPE!
  6. I tried the cvs brand mint lozenges (no real burn to speak of) and while my quot worked best cold turkey, they were a helpful transition/tapering tool. Helped me to identify triggers and pass up some cigarettes in those moments. The key is to really enforce a taper as the fact that you can take them in more situations than you can smoke opens up the opportunity to increase your nicotine intake depending on what level of smoker you were
  7. Came home yesterday, roommate had cigarettes put, but I just looked at him and said NOPE
  8. One year is a huge accomplishment. Congratulations!
  9. Cold out on the street since I forgot my hat, but warm because I know I've got NOPE
  10. I once had the very same reasons as her, what worked for me is finally being shown presents no relief except from the symptoms it causes. That and finding a group of people who are thrilled about not smoking
  11. Marti, that's amazing! You are so hugely inspirational and your presence and achievements are a constant motivation. Congratulations!
  12. 5 weeks of NOPE straight. Can't believe how much deeper my breathing is already
  13. Well done, you're incredibly inspiring. Congratulations!
  14. 3 months! So great! Super congratulations, do something amazing for your day.
  15. A snowy NOPE to all those in the north US! Stay warm
  16. Second month on the quit train, and starting with a big fat NOPE!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
