  1. I felt the same way so I finally broke down and bought the book. I could only get halfway through before I gave up. I just didn't get what all the fuss was about.
  2. Thanks everyone for the support!
  3. Welcome aboard QT, it's great to have you here!
  4. Great job on one week! You're doing a great job!
  5. I'm struggling with this too. I want to get a vapour pen and use the zero nicotine liquid. I justify it because it's no nicotine but I also know that it's just a crutch and I have to get used to life without putting anything in my mouth. I hope you've found a resolution to your question. Great job on your quit!
  6. You're doing so well, Tony! Don't give in to the temporary crave. Drink some water or juice instead of coffee for a bit, or at least switch to decaf...I doubt the caffeine jitters are helping. Hang in there!
  7. I'm still relatively new on the site still I can say that the PMs helped tremendously during the first few days. Every morning I'd wake up to new messages and I ended up replacing my morning cigarette with reading and replying to those messages. It was so critical to my quit and I appreciate it so much! (Thanks Marti)
  8. Congratulations on your quit. I say if the patches are working for you then so be it. Everybody's quit is unique so if your quit looks different than your son's that's okay. Hang in there! We're all here if you need the extra support!
  9. Great job on your first week! Congratulations!
  10. I love how long my sheets stay fresh and fabric softener-y. Even though I smoked outside, my room used to smell like stale smoke from my clothes. Now when I walk in I smell fresh laundry. I love that smell!

    Hey

Hang in there, you'll get through it I'm sure.
  12. I feel lost without a watch. Always have.
  13. Welcome to QT! You'll find the people here are invaluable through this process and congratulations on your quit!
  14. I sprang for a Kobe beef hamburger and a beer this week. The best damn burger I've ever had...totally worth the $15.
  15. I made it through the day without stopping at the smoke shop. I handed off my grocery shopping to my mom so I didn't have to go in the shopping center with the smoke shop. I think that helped. I also tried to time my drive so there was very little waiting before my appointment time...waiting was always smoke time. Anyway, I'm feeling better, I have no errands coming up so hopefully this craving will go away altogether before I leave the house again. Thanks, guys, for all the support.
  16. I'm not tempted by cigarettes as much as I am a vapour pen. It's just so much easier to justify because there's no nicotine but I don't want to vape either. I'm sure it'll lead to cigarettes eventually. Minute by minute. I'll go excersise now.
  17. I'm still struggling today...I have to go out today and the grocery store is right next to my old smoke shop so the temptation is stronger than ever. I'm just taking it one minute at a time.
  18. I've been sucking on cherry cough drops!
  19. Thanks for everyone's feedback. I was able to get through today and hopefully tomorrow will be the same although I do have an appointment and leaving the house is when I'm most weak. Fingers crossed.
  20. I'm having a problem with wanting to vape. I feel like I can justify it because you can get the liquid without nicotine but I know better. I know that vaping is also bad, mostly because it will most likely lead to smoking cigarettes. It started last night with a conversation with my mom where I was telling her what a hard time I was having and that I'm always thinking about smoking...even with a vapor pen. She said, "If there's no nicotine, why not? You're depressed and miserable and if vaping would help then why not?" Immediately I felt relieved because I had approval to start smoking with a vapor pen and even though it's not a cigarette, it's something. I asked her if I could smoke the pen at home and she said no. (There's a rule that I can no longer smoke on the property and since I live in the country, the street is pretty far away) so it will still not be convenient. But I tell myself, "Since there's no nicotine you won't be craving it every twenty minutes. You'll be more in control and only smoke once or twice a day." But I know better. I'll probably end up having to walk to road in the pouring rain or 104 degree summer heat many times a day. I would start wheezing again which I would hate too. Anyway, if I were to start vaping I would end up being miserable but the temptation is so strong! I mean, there's no nicotine so it's not as bad, right? UGH! I hate this!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
