  1. Thank you all! I made it through nursing school and have accepted my dream position in the trauma intensive care unit. All of these positive changes came from my decision to quit 9 years ago!
  2. Thank you! This has been an amazing 7 years! Without this site and the help of its wonderful members I don’t think the outcome would have been the same. If you are lurking and thinking of joining, do it! It is worth it. Next year at this time I will be quit and have a new title added to my name BSN, RN. All of this snowballed from quitting at that point in life quitting was the hardest thing that I had done. Conquering that obstacle gave me the courage to conquer my fear of going back to school at my age.
  3. 7 years! When we first started 7 minutes was a stretch... 7 flipping years!! congratulations Joe!!
  4. 6-8 months in was a really rough time for me. You can get through it though. There are times where it is going to pop into your head and then it will just pop right back out. All you have to say to yourself is "I am not a smoker", it really does get that simple.
  5. Take it minute by minute. Nope just for an hour, and then the next hour, and the next... You can do this.
  6. 2020 may be a dumpster fire but I am still here.
  7. @Linda This thread has saved many quits. Write something to yourself, something that will help save you when you are on the edge. When you feel weak come read ...
  8. Before you relapse @Linda just think to yourself, "If you have just one cigarette, you'll be back where you started. Where you started was desperately wishing that you were where you are today." Give it time, post an SOS, it will pass.
  9. Phoenix, the lap dog, still a puppy
  10. In the hospital that I am interning for our COVID patients are being treated with convalescent plasma and Remdesivir. We have been seeing promising results. Thank you for donating!
  11. Hi George, I am the one who answered you on your FaceBook post. Please share the information that you posted there in this forum. Our members are here to help you!
  12. Six years ago. I spent a majority of the holidays in the hospital with random breathing problems. I was 100lbs overweight, I was severely diabetic with a host of health issues. I smoked three packs of Newports a day. On December 30th I found a message board, I read through the posts of a member. I read his posts from the beginning when he started and I discovered at the end, the day before I found the board, he died. I made my decision. I set my date, “New Year, new me”, I ran out early and decided to not take the 5 minute drive to the store. I started early. I made my first post and I leaned hard on the members because I needed them to help me. I knew that the ones who were ahead of me knew what I was going through and they helped me conquer my craves and make it through day 1, day 3, week 1, month 1, month 6, year 1... etc. I made lifelong friendships out of strangers. I met the cheater stick ((Bakon)). I lost 100 lbs, I started running, I went back to school, I was accepted into nursing school this semester. These people helped to save my life. I owe them everything. If you are trying to make the decision on whether or not to do this, do it, it is worth it. It is not easy, it will test you, but the support that you receive here at QT with help you pass those tests. Happy New Year Quitters. I am proud of all that you have accomplished and of all of the people that are here changing their lives. I quietly pop in from time to time to see how you all are.
  13. I look through our messages often, I miss her so much.
  14. The whisperers storyline is looking promising. The writing and direction of where they took the show lately has been garbage, hopefully this rest of the season brings the show back.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
