  9. Welcome aboard Yep you are making a strong decision. As above plenty of cold fluids, deep breathing techniques, and reviewing this site to educate yourself about nicotine and quitting -- all is good information. 12. Great that you posted you are recognizing that others can help. Focus on all the benefits of being smoke free -- you are on day 4/5 so you should be shedding the actual physical dependence and that is what can be the most difficult. Now you are going to be facing all the psychological cravings -- you are going to start rewiring your brain to a new normal and so many benefits is going to await you. Now is the time to really use deep breathing techniques, use the cold water/fluids, and hard candy can help and there is always Jillar's Air Cigarette -- this can really provide some great help. Do not let the negative thoughts grow, start thinking more towards what a smoke free life will be like and focus on that. Come here often to reach out and research all the educational materials that are here, they will truly help. You can do this!!!!
  13. Doreen congrats to those amazing 6 years and most of all thanks for being here for all the others and always paying it forward -- you are amazing!!!!

  18. Diane you are doing great and getting thru the toughest times. It will slowly get better -- keep up the focus and keep strong. Congrats on the 3 weeks and you should take a little time to celebrate!!!!
  19. I have to agree with Greenlight. I really would get peeved if others went on about my smoking (I was in the mode of "it's my life if I want to die early I will). So I don't really talk to others about quitting unless I am asked -- then I really go all in on the benefits I have had with quitting (focusing on what quitting did for me not for them). Usually if someone is contemplating quitting they have asked me about the ins and outs of quitting I will try and give them some encouragement and resources. This can be a tricky subject with some but you have to make sure the other person might be seriously thinking about quitting if not they may have to learn on their own which most quitters have done. Great question!!!!
  20. Matt, great idea on the water, cold juice can help too. Also you might want to try Jillar's Air Cigarette (cut straw to size of cigarette) and use that with breathing techniques -- it can really help it did for me!!!
  21. NOPE!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. Good going HellKat. As to the food do not worry about it too much in the early stages of your quit, my doctor told me to concentrate on the quitting of cigarettes. Yes I did gain weight the first few months but now I am almost back to the my weight at the time of quitting. Relax you deserve it!!!
  23. This will be interesting to follow. I believe Vaping will cause some damage and we will see more in the future. The problem here is the complete "locality" of the problem (especially the cluster of 8 ). We need to see if other areas and states begin to see something similar so that further action by the FDA and CDC can be taken!!!
  24. Scammers abound on digital devices of all types. If you are unsure research on the internet and realize government sites/calls will not ask for money on a direct phone call (we got a "your social security number has been compromised" call just this morning) and if they call sometimes the number shown will be a "government" number on your caller ID. Just be careful!!!!
