  1. Beazel, maybe, just maybe, those things have been said by some kids. Let me explain. When a kid is trying to do something they shouldn't, THAT is when they are quiet. One time my sister and i were up early on a summer day and when our mom got up, we asked her if she could go back to bed cause we were trying to enjoy the morning.
  2. You know Boo will probably be enjoying himself to this video. At the end of it what happened was that blue bus was full of middle eastern terrorists who kidnapped her.
  3. Well I must confess, I know someone who does make statements like the ones in this thread - my older sister. Jokingly of course but sometimes says cynical things but of course it is funny. Like one time i was telling her about some required class I was taking that the instructor rambled until the LAST minute. She said, "When class dismisses, you should say, "But i want to stay and hear you talk some more." With the references to the proctologist, I suppose No One Ever also said "Can you put on some Barry Mandalow while you do that?" Maybe No One Ever calls around and says, "How long and fat are your fingers? I am needing an appointment and i want someone with the biggest fingers possible." Yahoo. Just the word itself took me back. Ahh memories.. And you never really know with youtube. Someone might be wanting to enjoy EACH riveting second of the commercial. OH ALSO - No One Ever said, "I AM going to pay a lot for that muffler". If you remember THAT commercial... Anyways. "I wish my neighbors would make more noise." "I hope that pain in my left side is something really serious" "Well boss, I finished the task. Can you look over it and point out the faults? Like get in there and.... REALLY pick?" Oh there IS one thing that No One Ever said to a really mean crowd. It was - "You should not mind waiting because waiting builds character". Yeah, teeth have been knocked out over making THAT statement.
  4. These are hilarious Here are a few more - (No man ever said) "I would love to marry a woman with weight problems and has a bunch of kids" (No woman ever said) "I hope to someday marry a man with no job nor ambition except to play video games" "Ahh, almost to the check-out. I hope this person in front of me is going to write a check AND takes a while to dig for their ID" (To the busy-work finding boss) "I am SOOOO bored, nothing to do. Is there anything I can help with?" "Oh it is my turn to change the baby? I hope it's a shit diaper." "WHAT?! That cannot be right! I don't want that big a tax refund!"
  5. does the site that teaches one how to smoke also explain that feeling your lungs flinch the first few times is normal? I look back at that day and think, "I should have taken that as a hint that this activity is bad news". One thing people seldom mention about keeping quit but it helps me - Smoking is just a pain in the ass. Making a special stop to buy them. Overpaying for each pack. Having everything smell like smoke, explaining to people why you took it back up. I do not pledge NOPE, I do not chant anything fancy. My "pledge" is this - Today i am too lazy to do more than I have to. Buying cigarettes is inconvenient. That is 20 minutes I could spend doing nothing.
  6. Well like if your day was long and hard, yeah that is what she said. My room mate and i though found out something - this person called "No one ever" says some really ridiculous things. But what kind of things? Here are some i can think of that No one ever quoted - (When Jehovah Witness comes to the door) "Oh please come in, I want to hear all about it. Can I have a pamphlet too?" (Friday afternoon to the boss) "But sir! Yes I know it is time to leave but I want to stay longer! (To an older gentleman) "Hey can you tell me that one joke again, I have not heard it enough times yet" (Shopping around) "No I was just trying to find the worst deal"
  7. I never got headaches when I quit. Different people have different symptoms. For me it was fatique. Sadly enough we have to pay some dues when we quit.
  8. Last two years I smoked it was costing me about $1.25 a pack simply because I was making my own with tubes, tobacco, and a cigarette machine. Right now though the pre-rolled ones I smoked are just about $5 a pack. Some snarky people think it is great that the price of smokes keeps going up. Just wait though. Once enough people quit because cigarettes are just too expensive, they will start raising tax to unimaginable levels on other things THEN people won't be laughing. I do not know why the govts of the world want people to quit smoking anyways. The feds are getting paid pretty in taxes over tobacco sales. Strange as it may sound, i empathize with smokers. I chose to quit but I have not forgotten what it was like to be treated like a disease.
  9. I was not on QSMB much but was my first. When my only friend there got banned, I just didn't go on as much. Of course she jumped off this forum soon after. Anyways, so like are Avian and Faith on here?
  10. Lack of communication causes more problems than anything. I vaguely remember something coming up about ownership or communication problems.
  11. So someone must know this - What exactly happened years ago at QSMB that caused so many to leave? I of course was not on either board at the time. I never knew Quit boards existed until Oct 2017. What caused QSMB to close/malfunction/whatever? Be kind of a shame if they are gone. People have preferences to which they enjoy more between QT and QSMB. Both have distinct ways of doing things that some may love or hate.
  12. I did the gradual withdraw method. went from 30 a day to three for three days then nothing. Though he means well, what Joel fails to mention in his videos is that he never actually smoked so he does not know first hand what it is like trying to quit. The important thing though is once you go from weaning off cigarettes to not smoking at all, one needs to STAY quit. Like I said though, the anticipation is worse than the reality. We hear about how it is worse than trying to quit hard drugs. We see things on TV where people are going batshit cause they want more crack, meth, etc. And supposedly tobacco is harder ti quit than THOSE? Bull. They just say that so people will buy pills, patches, gums etc. Me, I ended up drinking more pepsi. My big motivation to quit was this - If my nephew can quit school, quit jobs, quit everything he starts, than why can I not quit smoking? So I dropped the habit.
  13. Of course the doctor will try to prescribe meds to help you quit. All's that does is create a different addiction. Do not use quit meds. But yes, that voice in your head wanting to smoke will make you think things like "just one will not hurt". Many a quit have been blown because of "just one".
  14. Cutting down then nothing was my method. To be exact - I used to smoke 30 "rollies" a day (made with sorry, weak excuse for tobacco) When I wanted to quit - Three a day for three days. Zero a day between Oct 6th 2017 until now. Ok so your barrier is being nervous about quitting. Like creating this huge void. This may not be popular to say but look at it like this - When you do quit, if you just cannot handle it, you can go back. In other words, You are not jumping ship but walking away. Concentrate on the first day first, just like, fcuk it, I will do this ONE day of no smoking. Then the next day try it again. Look, it takes only ONE day of voluntarily not smoking to prove to yourself you CAN do it. Once you have that under your belt, you can use that against smoking. Plus, the nerve-racking feeling of "Damn, I am giving up my addiction" only lasts until that first day is over. About quitting voluntarily - I figured should probably quit on MY terms rather than something stupid like being stuck in the hospital or some other situation where I just could not smoke. It is always better to do things on one's own terms. Pick a quit day where you will have a couple days to chill out, go nuts, whatever. I quit on a Friday so I would have the weekend to start adjusting. Ultimately, yes there are gonna be rough days when you will think "give me my G.D. cigarettes!" Mine didn't hit til three months quit. Overall though it gets easier. Finally, do NOT keep any tobacco around. Lead us not into temptation, for that we can find on our own.
  15. Not nearly as bad as some people act like. You know how you hear of how it is worse to quit cigs than it is heroin or crack or whatever? The only reason that MIGHT be true is that tobacco is legal and readily available. My own W/D involved feeling dizzy and sleepy a lot during the first few days. I just drudged through it. Three months in I started getting real serious craves. What kept me off was not wanting to pay $5 a pack for stupid cigarettes.
  16. Octain, you are often saying how cigs do nothing for you. that is true. It reminds me of something I saw that encouraged me to stay off it - I went to a friend's house a while back. She had given up smoking, drinking, weed, junk food, all that healthy BS... But of course life stepped in and she was having custody issues with her kids. So there she was, 1/2 drunk, smoking a cigarette, and using some weed burning contraption. She was blowing the smoke into the range hood. I thought "Jesus that is pathetic!" I kill myself enough as it is with my horrendous diet. I look at people hooked on nasty stuff like weed, cigs, booze and it is like "disgusting". BTW when I said "Jesus" I was talking about the one who is going to come over and fix the gutters, not the one who hanged on the cross.
  17. Maybe you could use some of the money you saved by quitting to buy some socks and shoes. Saucony makes probably the best tennies/street shoes/whatever they are called now. Maybe count on $50 to $75 for a pair brand new. Seems like a lot of money but then two weeks worth of cigarettes (pack a day) costs about $75 anyways so there you go. Our weather though is a little cool, not bad but also soggy and cloudy. So it is no chore to go outside but not pleasurable either. As far as your desire to keep doing things you enjoyed smoke free, that shouldn't change. The biggest triggers will still make you want a cigarette but you then just ignore them best you can. Like I said in some other thread, for a real smoker there isn't much that Wasn't a trigger. Seems the most practical approach is to live life as before except not lighting up.
  18. Geminis know what they want. Once they make up their mind... well, what other options are there? Maybe they want THAT instead. It is so hard to decide. The best way to handle gemini is to give them unlimited selection but they can choose only one. I am Sagittarius. Let it rip.
  19. You should try that cereal Krave, the double chocolate kind. it used to be better but somehow they screwed it up but still worth a try.
  20. Yes reciprocity. He looks to be eating alone. Why is he not attending a ballroom gathering? I imagine all those fancy people would love to see that.
  21. Who knows where they actually get their info. of course they want ex-smokers to think they are gonna fail at quitting, that way they can try to sell meds or fancy doctors or whatever. they also mention that the "good" news is if you stay off smoking for two years only THEN does it become "much easier". Ok so for someone who is still trying to quit or only has maybe a few days under their belt, this is pretty daunting a thought. It would be like telling some 22 year old kid who hates working, "Just think, in 40 years you can retire". A new quitter is not fighting craves two years from now, he is fighting it TODAY. he don't want to hear, "Oh just stick it out for two years then it gets easier". No, bullcrap. It is true that craves come and go. I got hit hardest at three months. But they want people to believe it is gonna be harder than what quitting really is. Like they say it is harder than crack or meth or heroin etc... of course we have seen people flop around and scream on TV when being deprived of hard drugs. So supposedly giving up cigarettes is gonna be worse than THAT? Not even close. They want you to have failure in mind ahead of time so you are ready to buy into some dumb crap like pills that will "help". TBH I myself did not expect to last almost four months so far because of this. But then when i wasn't acting like Spongebob on crack even during the worst of my craves, i knew I was gonna be OK. 60 to 90 percent? That is a hell of a guesstimation. That is about as spot-on as saying, "the world might end eventually". Or that the sky might fall. If you want to quit smoking, the best you can do is concentrate on your own quit.
  22. That guy looks like a REAL window licker AND has the table manners of a pig. Probably makes the same nasty slurping sounds as my dog when he eats. Well thanks, there goes MY mood for some self-love.
  23. The only thing I can recon happens is maybe Bakon is exposing himself to the new people?
  24. Brussel sprouts and olives. it does not get grosser than that. My taste didn't really change since quitting but I CAN smell stuff now.
  25. I think reciprocity is old enough to be my parent so if he can survive on junk food, I should be in really good shape. Now about toast and jelly - I like strawberry preserves. Yes it is the store-bought kind but that is my only option. That coveted box of chips-ahoy cereal sits in the cup board. Yeah we buy cereal then eat one bowl and there it sits. I might eventually have to feed it to the garbage disposal dog.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
