  1. Hi devo! Glad to see you found QT & your quit is intact!
  2. lml - reading some of the writings of my fellow quitters is what got me through some terrible days early in my quit. Heck, even after climbing onto Lido, I went back and read the old post about the climb or the rope (?) something like that. Read and post here often. I am confident it will help you as it has helped so many of us!
  3. Welcome aboard & congratulations PeaceTrain!
  4. So nice to read this again, thanks Jillar. I see some other treasures have been resurrected - thanks!!
  5. These days I often think I'm in control. In control of my quit. Not much else. I'm not often in situations where this belief is questioned. That is not to say they never are. Tonight I spent time with the smokers. An intimate gathering so my abstinence was obvious. It would've been so easy to take that one. Just the one, right? NOPE! I'm thankful the temptation is muted, not blaring nonstop in my brain. I am upset because I want this to be over. I don't wish to recognize this as a victory... as being strong. I want it to be a 100% non-issue. I don't smoke & that's that. No need to applaud my non-smoking evening. No need to be elated that after all this time- I KMQ after an evening with the smoking friends. I estimate I am 98% indifferent to smokers. I can hangout with friends that still smoke & not writhe in junky agony. That 2% might always try to seduce me. That 2% might never vanish. It might continue to fight me. Dammit, I will always win!!

  10. Congratulations on 5 months Ellen!!
  11. Good job GITW. It sucks that we still might get slapped in the face with a trigger/crave or notion that we can have just one. It is great when we slap it right back down to the bowels of hell and gleefully walk away hand in hand with our Quit.
  12. Never quit quitting. Your honesty in telling the forum is appreciated. Resume your quit ASAP! We are all here for you. Posting an SOS can save a quit. It saved mine @ 1 month.
  13. Hi MattyBoy & Welcome. It is nice to hear from you. I'm glad you found Quit Train & the supportive folks on board. I'm sorry to read about the relapse. Congratulations on Day 4! You know the drill NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE !!! Read, post & NOPE!!!
  14. (( GITW )) you have embraced your quit & speak with confidence & truth. I'm proud of you! Continue to improve yourself (uni) as you are able & never forget you have a whole lot of life to live; perhaps at a slower pace but, still it is there for the taking!
  15. This is the type of mental dialogue that will strengthen and solidify your quit. I had those same conversations over and over in my head. You're doing great. You've got this!
  16. Makes perfect sense.Welcome-this forum offers great support.Read and post often!
  17. Hi MiamiMike! I vaguely remember you from QSMB. Bravo for seeking support here! Those pesky smoking memories will try to seduce us every now and again. They look so seductive and safe-but deep down we know it is all a ruse. You are smarter and stronger than this demonic addiction

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
