  1. Govt can watch me all they want - lol. Nothin' to see here!
  2. Ummm ..... forgot about this little romp I was havin with y'all I know they are flowers and yes, the wife plants them and does a great job too. I would never mow them down and if I did, the wife would have me stones in a noose so ..............not to worry. Besides, they died off on their own after a couple of weeks.
  3. Glad to see you decided to give this quitting thing a try; really, I am happy for you! No quitting isn't all sunshine and lollipops but nothing worth fighting for in life is. Try deep breathing exercises for the anxiety and frustration/anger you might feel in the early days. I had that a lot too and didn't like it one bit either. Just take things an hour, or even a minute at a time for the moment. Don't look too far ahead. Get through today. Tomorrow will come regardless so you can deal with that then. Keep coming back and posting. I think you'll find it helps - even if it's just to unload on us. We've all been there, done that.
  4. WOW! 5 Years. Now there's something to be proud of : Congrats Paul
  5. Don't underestimate yourself Fab. For any of us, it takes a lot of focus and work to get to that 6 month point. Clearly you had it in you and have now proved that to yourself. Be proud and celebrate Long as you protect that beautiful quit you have now, you will be walking on the Lido Deck in another few months. Carry on!
  6. Your friend will get noting but support here my friend but, as you know, she must first of all log on here herself and she must make the commitment to herself to do the heavy lifting to make this very worthwhile change in her life. Your are right though, staying in touch with others making their own way through this struggle is a really useful tool in quitting. There's a lot of collective knowledge to be shared for those who participate
  7. Steady Lad! ..............just NOPE!
  8. Yes - wise words indeed! Don't look too far ahead. One day, one battle at a time. This will see you through
  9. 5 Oh yes .... New Lido Party approaches
  10. Only smoked in the unfinished basement of the house occasionally and whatever smoke smell there may have been is no longer there as there was nothing for it to absorb into really. I can't smell it in the car any longer either . I suppose there's some remnant of it in there but I don't smell it. Always had the window down while I smoked in the car too so maybe that helped? The first house we bought years ago though was so badly polluted with stale smoke smell and yellowing of almost all surfaces it was disgusting. They had hidden the smell largely with Lysol when we have first viewed the place and we didn't really notice the yellow stains on the ceiling and walls but we sure did when we moved in. Took a long time to get rid of all that. Washing all the surfaces, painting with a "high-hide" paint as well as getting rid of carpet and other stuff that absorbs the smoke smell. I don't think many people smoke indoors like they once did. Those days are largely gone now.
  11. Congrats on reaching 10 months smoke free KT! You're on the sort track now to reaching that Lido Deck. Keep going
  12. Great job Kermit! The 6 month milestone is a huge accomplishment. You should be very proud of all the work you've done to reach this point. Be sure to celebrate and reflect on how far you've come as you set your sights on the Lido Deck
  13. It's funny for me because if I walk past someone who is smoking, the smell, as long as it's from a reasonable distance, is kind of pleasant to me. Maybe it's just a reminder of what used to be for myself? But like your reaction at the craft show, if someone comes into a room I'm in after they have been smoking, the smell if strong and grosses me out. I guess that stale smell of smoke is what I really don't like. Of course I was oblivious to it when I smoked - lol. One more benefit of quitting
  14. Hey Grund! Congrats on your final milestone before reaching that Lido Deck The time will just fly past now so better get packing your cruise wear because I think I see your ship on the horizon
  15. Yes, too many really basic and practical life skills are not taught in school. Substance abuse and addiction is a good one. Oh, here's another .... money management?

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
