Oh Sharon, this is so true! Like you, I love to people watch, and was doing so when we were out yesterday - Tasha always let's me have the window seat at restaurants :p I was watching a woman smoking outside a supermarket... I don't think she was particularly old, but I get the feeling that she looked older than she was. She looked grey... her hair was thin, and she looked really miserable standing there, smoking - it did not look pleasurable, at all... I'm so glad I don't have to do that anymore... You are very lucky to have such a smart daughter, and I hope you had a great day in London!!!

That is not good if it causes stress with you and Steve either... The thing is - her bank account is frozen - I suppose that means that she has money problems? And she already owes you $380... Will she really have enough money by the end of October to move out? Maybe you can tell her that, if by the end of October (or whenever) she still doesn't have the money to move out, she will have to go back and live with her mum - no ifs, buts of maybes. And in the meantime, they need to contribute around the house... That is entirely reasonable, and you have tried your hardest to help her (even if she isn't helping herself). The last place I rented with a 'friend', I used to pay half the rent and bills onto his account each month, something like £800 a month. Then, one day, he told me he was moving out... The next day he was gone, and then I started getting eviction notices and court summons because none if the bills or rent had been paid in 6 months... Apparently he had used my money to put towards a deposit on a new house, and had been hiding all they paid notices.... As you can imagine, I wasn't particularly happy that he'd stolen almost £5000 from me to buy himself a house, and I was about to be made homeless... He even had the cheek to let himself in to check for mail (because he still had a key)... Well, that was until I caught the little shit... Some people are unbelievable... Lol You need to do what is important for you and Steve, and if she really is your friend, then she will understand when you speak to her. You are a good person and I would hate for someone to take advantage of you... Hugs

Oh no Leanna, I'm really sorry to be the bearer of bad news here but... This does not sound like it will get better, unless you put your foot down... I've got horror stories from living with friends, and I would never, ever recommend it to anyone. The last time I lived with a 'supposed' friend, it ended in a punch-up, and legal action lol... You need to lay down rules, and you need to tell them that they have to pay their way... You should absolutely not be out of pocket for doing them a favour, and they should not be taking advantage of you like this... And I would suggest that you and Steve have a chat and you give them a date that they need to move out by (otherwise, they might never leave (seriously)). It probably wouldn't have been as bad if it was just your friend, and not her boyfriend too... I tell you this at a time when my parents are staying with me for a month... And it's so stressful!!

This is so true - we never even considered going without cigs, no matter what they cost us... It's crazy money now, too. I wonder of you will eventually inspire her to quit as well? Funny thing is - she spent all that money on the meal, and probably didn't enjoy it very much - her taste buds wouldn't have been as good as a non-smoker, and she was probably sitting there, getting impatient thinking all she really wanted was another smoke! You are a star Doreen!!
