For the last couple of days - all I am thinking of is smoking ! It's way past my bedtime here and hubby has just gone to bed after telling me to harden up but I just want one ! I won't but frig I thought I was past this!

Awww Pippa.  Try and see if something set you off?  Is there anything that co incides? x

Sorry, had to edit when i misread your quit date... you are over one year quit.

You definitely do not want to smoke. What a load of rubbish. It is something else...

"a couple of days"... something must have triggered that...

Have you changed your diet lately? or could medication have caused it?

(((((((((((((((((((((Pippa))))))))))))))))))))))))

Oh no, Pip - I am sad to hear this... Let's try to work it out - is anything going on there to make you feel like this? Stress? Change of weather? Family? Different diet?

(((Pip))) I hope you are able to get some sleep soon..!

No way Kitty cat. Hang on! I have friends who have quit smoking for years who still have urges from time to time. It ma be the nature of the beast.

Have some chocolate

Ps two weeks ago I had a week of urges. I was disappointed . I thought about how great it would be to smoke a cig to celebrate my one year! Junkie thinking on my part. :( now things are back to normal which is random thoughts from time to time but not allot

Kick him out of the bed and sleep right in the middle like a starfish. Show him how hard indeed yo can be. Or tell him to harden up too :sarcastic_blum:

Have a good night. Things will look much brighter tomorrow. :give_heart:

Love you too, Pip. And am here for you if you need me :)

Awww Pip even with time under our belt emotions with bring on the craves it's what we do next that matters Pip I allowed those feelings to grow to a dangerous point and the more I thought about it the worse it grew but as soon as I started to ignore it it went away just as though the last couple of weeks never happened the only advise I can say is ignore it get distracted and you will be back to happy freedom very soon hugs Pip I think you need one xxx

Consider it as just a helpful reminder. :)

Pippa, I'm sorry that you've had such a battle the last few days. I know how exhausting and corrosive that can be. Here, have a hug. ((( Pippa  )))

In the short term, yes, hang in there, practice slow, deep breathing, keep chanting N.O.P.E. and remind yourself that this, too, will pass. If this was just a one day crave, that should be all that is necessary. However, since this has been going on for several days, I think Susana is right--you need to look at what is going on in your life to cause this much distress. Then try to find a way to either fix it or accept it.

I think that the Alcoholics Anonymous Prayer is very helpful at times like this. "Lord grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference." The hard part for me is accepting the things I can not change, particularly when it concerns family problems. I keep thinking that there MUST be a way to change things or (more often) a way to get a family member to change. But often there isn't.

You were very smart to reach out here and express your distress. I admire that! Try to calm yourself and let whatever it is that is bothering you wash over you.

Hope you're feeling better and refreshed after sleeping Pippa!

Chrys! You are spot on! I had some issues a week or so ago. And turns out the uneasy feeling I was having with my quit was due to family related stress. Once I put a finger on it - all was better. I also have a problem thinking there are things about family that I should be able to change -and I think I will try the Serenity Prayer. God knows nothing I do or say (especially smoking) will change them.

Hang in there, Pip.   Like the others said, it is probably something else causing the trigger, then we start thinking about smoking and have a little trouble getting it out of our heads.  Hang in there!  It will pass.  Give yourself something you don't allow yourself too often.  :)

Hey Pippa. Hope you're feeling WAY better when you wake up! You should since you're such a majorly successful quitter, and an inspiration to so many of us!

Hey Pip - its all that upside down stuff...

Nights sleep sort it out?

Sorry I'm late, hope you are ok now hun, did you have a first anything that might have triggered it off??

My mam is 5 years off the cigs but when something happens for the first time she gets a crave, like my wedding was the first wedding she went to since she stopped smoking so it was her first time doing wedding stuff without smoking, first holiday, when a grandchild came along after quitting she'd crave cos it was a first, the excitement would cause a crave but as she got through each and ticked them off her list (in her head)

So just wondering did anything happen that you have not been through since quitting??

You should have kept hubby awake and tormented him,

How are you doing now??

Aww Pip, I'm sorry you had a hard time.  I know it sucks sometimes when a crave hits, especially if it's out of the blue.  We don't want to deal with it anymore but in a small way it's always part of us.  I have had experiences like this myself lately and it made me feel really down until someone here told me to use it to make my quit stronger.  Beat it down Pip.  It will get weaker if you do.  Always here if you need to talk.

Pippa, so sorry to have read that you are having terrible cravings after a year quit!  I agree with the others, something is going on that is causing that.  Do not EVER think that smoking just one to celebrate would be okay.  Never is it okay.  You know where that will lead you.  I agree with whoever said eat a piece of chocolate.  That's a whole lot better than smoking anyday!

Hugs and hand in there.  Things will get better.  Wanna borrow my meditation room?  :)

Oh, Pippa, sorry I am late!  So sad you've hit a rough patch...but you know it will pass.  (((Pippa)))

Hey guys - thanks for all the support - I really appreciated it and am feeling much better now a0d0423989cfe63dbac86525c36d6b54_zpsff34

I am not sure what brought my mood on - I think maybe a combination of family issues and watching too much smoking on TV - I can't believe how much they smoke in Breaking Bad !

Just goes to prove you can never get too complacent ! Thanks again - the support from this board is awesome - hugs to all ! a0d0423989cfe63dbac86525c36d6b54_zpsff34
