  1. Happy 7 months LB - he you fly by soon
  2. You can never post too much- that is what this board is for - and it certainly isn't annoying. Distraction was key for me - so I basically lived at the gym - as it was a place I never smoked. I also consoled myself with a ton of licorice - so I think they kind of balanced themselves out
  3. It did have its ups and down - but mostly it has been fun - loved celebrating all our successes . Love all of you !
  4. Sending hugs and positive thoughts your way Sharon - make sure you take care of yourself as well M
  5. Thanks Marti - loved it !
  6. Yep all the newbies are doing great - personally I have one ( snack) word for you - Licorice - trust me - it is a food group all on its own when you are quitting !
  7. Ooh my - I can feel the party is just about to start !
  8. Happy birthday - make sure you spoil yourself
  9. Awesome work Jimmy - congratulations
  10. High intensity session with my trainer
  11. Yay Wendy - hell week conquered - onwards and upwards from here
  12. Hey Tracey - just saw this and have to say I do know how you feel - there must be something in the air at the moment / change of seasons something - cos the addict in a lot of us seems to be playing up ! Speaking for myself tho - posting here and reading the responses really helped me - and I can say facing up to my thoughts and then telling them where to go really helped me - after a bad weekend last week I really do feel so much better and love my smoke free / stink free life ! I can promise from experience you will feel better! In the interim - keep posting - just don't smoke - cos I am not sure Ohio is ready for a whole bunch of us from the train descending to give you a slap!
  13. Hey Colleen can't advise where you can get them in the states - but they definitely come in different sizes and I would suggest trying them on once you pick one out - because my experience they varied brand to brand, glove to glove and even colour to colour ! I ended up with pink medium ( even though I did not want pink) because the black and blue in the same size and brand were too big. Lucky the guy in the sports store didn't seem to mind that his shop floor was littered with about 50 sets of gloves while we found a pair that fits Make sure you tell them what you need the glove for - sparring, bags and general kick boxing all use different gloves ! Let me know if you need more information
  14. Awesome post Wendy - you will be surprised how your smoke free lungs respond to exercise - before you know it you will be carrying that bike over your head while you run 50 miles ! Well maybe not that far - but you will be amazed how quickly you progress and trust me exercise is the best distraction early in your quit
  15. Yesterday heavy weights and high intensity cardio with my trainer - today small group training and the kick boxing .... Am feeling it but know I am getting fitter - now if I can just find the cure for middle age spread and I can write my best selling book !
  16. Yay Jackie - you are a non smoker and you get all the benefits - so glad you are back xx
  17. Hi Nat - everyone has already given you great advice so I will just say welcome and reinforce you can do this! Like almost everyone here I made efforts to cut down and that never worked - but after over 30 years of smoking I said enough and quit cold turkey - the truth is the thought of quitting is much worse than the actual quit. There will be some rough times - but that is what we are here for - to support you through them ! You can do this
  18. Awesome work - congratulations
  19. Doing great - onwards and upwards from here
  20. The party is now well and truely underway - congratulations
  21. A vey pretty quit for a very pretty lady ..... Super congratulations :-)
  22. Hugs DD. - love what you bring to the train - congratulations :-)
  23. Sorry sue - Jackie can't be in charge of the drinks cos it is my shift ... Yep us old phartes take turns serving our special newbies ... That way we know some one is here if you need us ! Oh and welcome back lovelies - we have missed you !

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
