  8. Thanks all!! I am so happy that I decided to quit. Saw it in another post but I also still (re-)read and learn. Knowledge about nicotine addiction and support here on the train helped me enormously.

Ok, I'm going for it. Let the withdrawals commence.
  13. I do want to thank all of you for the support you've all offered through this treatment issue. It really helps to have family and friends that you know are thinking about you at times like this. I appreciate all of you very muchโฃ๏ธThis community has offered support not only for people wanting to quit smoking but for other things as well and that's what makes this place so special ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi again @Jane. Glad to have you back with us, to step off the โ€œMisery Merry-Go-Roundโ€ for good. Your โ€œenough is enoughโ€ attitude is a great asset to bring to your quit. For me, I found the withdrawal symptoms became more manageable once I โ€œfound my fierce.โ€ I eventually got fed up with having my mind (and time and health and budget) always hijacked by cravings for nicotine. That determination to break free was useful. So was this site. Staying in dialogue about the experience and staying accountable were both helpful. Good luck with Day 1 - let us know how you do!

Sorry to hear you're struggling so bad @Pilgrim in getting back on your quit. Please keep trying because if you let yourself be consumed buy this addiction then it's anybody;s guess when you'll be looking to quit again. Don't let this be a revolving door Pilgrim! You deserve much better than that ๐Ÿ™
  22. Thank you all so much! I still can't believe I've made it this far! Even those who know me are surprised lol It's 100% thanks to everyone here and this forum, I know for sure I couldn't have made it this far without the support, the reading material, the videos and the daily NOPE! ๐Ÿ˜ I'm at the stage where I hate cigarettes with a passion. Yes I've had a couple of silly thoughts during the early Summer of wanting one but I did what I used to do in the early days, pumped up the music and batted it away and just like that, POOF, the silly thoughts disappeared. ๐Ÿ˜ Thanks All and I'm looking forward to reaching 1 year smoke free!

I'm sorry to hear you've relapsed @Pilgrim however you're still here (and taking accountability). The stopping and starting must be quite frustrating. I know in the beginning I've wanted to have just one at times (as if it would just be one) but I was NOT giving up the fighting through it period only to have to go through it all again! If you think using patches or similar would help it's no harm trying. Let this be your final quit, you can do it! There's so much support here on this forum, check in every day, post when you feel you are going to cave in, anything, but smoke!

^^^ This is awesome advice for veterans, newcomers and everyone in between. To this day, I still read a lot and engage on this forum because addiction is sneakyโ€ฆ it can creep into my subconscious way too easily and pounce when I am vulnerable. So I keep reinforcing my recovery.

Wishing you the best but as you know "luck" has nothing to do with it. YOU are the deciding factor in your quit and stay quit. It's easy to smoke that first one and fall quickly back into the full fledged nicotine addiction trap again as many of us can attest. I was one of those that found it hard to get back on the train and each attempt seemed to become harder and harder. I knew I needed something to switch on in my brain to stop the white knuckling and change my focus into my free choice of never going back to smoking. Being quit for 5 or 10 years and still thinking about wanting to smoke when seeing others smoke was not the future I wanted for myself. I wanted to feel gratitude and achieve peace in my smobriety. I found the switch by reading and educating myself about nicotine addiction (the why, how, and what I could do to help myself) and then reading some more. Each time I read I took away a few words or thoughts that spoke to me and added them to my pile of "never wanting a smoke" and "never going back". Find your switch. Then it really doesn't matter how long it's been since we last smoked. All that matters is that it no longer is a want or option to anything in our life. We are then free. You can do it too. Pledge daily (you don't break promises to yourself do you?). Post an SOS as needed and as often as you need to the community for help. Nobody says you have to do it alone. Use the community. "Best Wishes".
  26. NOPE!! Tonight or tomorrow.
