  2. NOPE…. First and Foremost
  3. Welcome back @Stewbum! We’ve all been there, the important thing is to get back on track. I say with love…
  4. I must say ... I'm surprised you succumbed to the smokes again so soon after celebrating your Lido Deck Anniversary but I know it happens and I'm really happy to see you have come back to the train to take charge of your quit & your life again. The story could be a lot different had you decided to just carry on with the cigars. My Dad was a cigar man, smoked them throughout his life, until they killed him ☠️ Don't make the same mistake Stew 🙏
  5. I was waiting for the skillet!
  6. Gday Well what can I say…. Sometimes you have to learn things the hard way. Your back , that’s the main thing. But I’m firm on this. You only get so many “get out of jail free cards” and you’ve used that one up. It’s NOPE. First and formost
  7. Yesterday I found the Serenity necklace I bought during a previous attempt. I decided that's going to be my gift to myself for my first year clean. I'm a big fan of physical incentives (like challenge coins to mark anniversaries), but no one in my life is really the type to buy that sort of thing for me, so I'm planning to buy gifts for myself--probably in the form of simple jewelry I can wear, or challenge coins I can carry, as my clean streak increases.
  8. OUCH, Doreen just a slap would have sufficed.... But I think my hard head still deserved the pan!
  9. Mee 2. NOPE is the only way.
  10. In one of my quit attempts, I thought I could just have one. I also tried telling myself cigars were safer. I suppose it has helped me that I've more or less dropped everyone in my life who smokes. I'll still talk to them if I run into them, but I won't sit around with anyone while they're smoking. It has helped me to maintain the reality that all smoking is dangerous. Maybe make it a point to avoid it entirely, even if it means missing out on other stuff.
  11. You big dummy! I'm glad to see you back on your quit already, hopefully that'll help keep the craves minimal.
  12. Welcome back Stewbum! Post here BEFORE the temptation takes over! We can steer you to safety. Not harshing you by any means Lord knows I didn’t quit the first, second, tenth time around!! Glad you’re back. Get it done in 2025!!! 🥳
  13. Happy to NOPE!! ahead of time.
  14. I'm sorry to hear that Stew but glad you came back! Please stay close to us whenever you get an urge to have a smoke. I truly believe coming on the train frequently helps with urges and going back. Happy New Year! 😀
  15. Congratulations Penguin on your wonderful 14 months smoke free It’s sounds like a nice idea to Reward yourself 🐸
  16. I hate to hear about your relapse Stew but I am glad you are back at your quit. It took me several attempts too but quitting is worth it. You can do this Stew
  17. NOPE!!! Back to square #1
  18. Been a bit since I lit up. New Year figure I could ……still not smoke. Bunch of Window lickers!!!!! keep marching.
  19. All I can say is that I am back after a short stint of insanity puffing on a few cigars. Stayed at my cabin through the holidays, which is normally my safe place but the hunting and fishing groups around my gazebo fire pit...... I succumbed to the thought well its only a cigar! Then of course well I already had one! But I am back in my straight mind, back to reality and back on the train. Little embarrassed but extremely happy to know I can post my NOPE!!!
  20. G’day NOPE .....Not One Puff Ever.... (replace Ever with Min,Hour, Day as required.)
  21. Rewards along the way to mark whatever milestones you feel are significant is an excellent idea 👏 I saved up all the money I'd saved over my first year of quitting and put that toward a cruise for myself & the wife. The first cruise ever where I wasn't hiding away on the ship in the smoking area and the first time not suffering through major withdrawal during the flights to get to and from the cruise port! It was win/win all around 😃 So by all means, reward yourself for a job well done!
  22. NOPE! (I just woke up and there's only 8 hours left in today, but it still counts!)
  23. I enjoy ending a year not smoking and starting another year not smoking.
  24. Still haven't quit not smoking. Have a good non-smoking year everyone.
  25. Yep the house in the back is pretty much as old as the tree. Puts it about 80/90 years old
  26. I made it 14 months! Sometimes I'm surprised by what even makes me think of cigarettes, or of having one. A random sight or smell or rumble in my stomach can kick off a small urge. I've also noticed the irritation I used to feel around cigarette smoke has abated somewhat. I suppose at some point I'll level out and it'll be like it was before I was ever a smoker, when I didn't find the odor of cigarette smoke offensive. Then I'll really have to be on my guard, because that'll be one less thing keeping me from smoking. I don't mind admitting I enjoyed smoking, to some degree, and there's a part of me that would enjoy it still if it wasn't for all the negative things about it. Smoking is still a nasty, lethal habit, but that doesn't mean there isn't a part of me that misses it. Thankfully I don't tend to let that part of me in the driver's seat very often, because that part of me is an emotional idiot who does what feels good in the short-term, with no regard for the long-term consequences.
  27. Welcome to Quit Train @Penguin! I've been quit for a few years now and early on in my quit the smell of someone smoking was aluring to me. Made me want to light one up but now ... I find the smell really offputting; disgusting actually so I suppose your reaction to people smoking may change as time goes on as well? Where I live, smoking is very restricted. Basically you can't smoke anywhere other than outdoors as long as you're not on property owned by organizations that ban smoking on their property. No smoking at sports fields or outdoor playgrounds etc. All this legislated by municipalities & eventually by the Provincial Government. How you get there is the question I suppose. Government legislation usually comes from public pressure at both the local & State/Provincial levels. Petitions, using social medial and lobbying whatever politicians you can makes a difference. Encouraging others to join you is key! Good wishes to you in continuing the fight!!
