November 24, 20223 yr So, I didn't violate my own rule about no Christmas decorations going up until after Thanksgiving. I simply got out in front of things a little bit. Tested all the lights and went ahead and hung them up today. Pulled out the other outside decorations and have them laid out in the garage. I brought down the storage containers with all of the inside decorations in them. We'll take an early morning trip to the Christmas Tree farm on Friday morning and set the whole thing in motion. Operation Winter Wonderland is a go.
November 25, 20223 yr Author Take tsk tsk....wots the point of rules if ya just gunna break em. No Christmas music tol 1 Dec....I'm itching

Then hung the lights up. Did not light them up on the house until this evening. The potential for the lights to be decorative was there, but not fulfilled until the time was right. "A flute with no holes, is not a flute. A donut with no hole, is a Danish."

It could be argued that you made a rule not to put up any Christmas decorations until after Thanksgiving. Therefore lit up or not they were put up and that is clearly a violation of your own rule. Furthermore, as to whether an unlit light is a decoration it would depend on if its seasonal or not right? So......😂😂 Edited November 26, 20223 yr by jillar

November 28, 20223 yr Author Um...so I'm supposed to be making chrissy presents for the kids teachers but NOPE...I'm debating if I do a poll about did Boo break his own rule on chrissy decos OR do I do a poll about when one should set up chrissy decos?.... when should they he taken down??? So in my family the tree should stay up until the epiphany BUT if you don't get it down by then it has to stay up all year or its bad luck.

You'll only wear yourself out trying. The folks that matter will understand if you sit one out from time-to-time. The folks who want to work you like a farm mule...f**k 'em, you don't need a lot of people like that in your life.
November 29, 20223 yr Boo says it well Sweetheart....your no good if you burn yourself out .... Saying No can be the hardest thing sometimes ....❤
November 29, 20223 yr G’day They don’t call it the silly season for nothing! Everythings gotta be done by Christmas otherwise …… Christmas will fail? Humbug….. don’t think so…. But it seems the whole world does. Me. I’ll go along with it. A bloke can only do what he can. Secretly I’m waiting for that month after Christmas when everyone goes away and the roads are quiet. I’ll catch up with my work. Then I’ll take time off in February when the world goes back to work. Mental note… have to break to them that I’m retiring FULLY end of this next year.
November 30, 20223 yr Author Oh how exciting @Cbdave...full retirement. Are you marking the calendar yet.
November 30, 20223 yr Good for you Dave .... Retirement is so good....I have never regretted finishing work ....Me Time 🐸
December 6, 20223 yr I'm not worrying about my kids and technology. With the exception of when she's sleepy, Maddie gets very little screen time. Jackson...he couldn't care less about technology. I am however worried about my parents and technology. My mom got a new phone. In trying to figure out this newfangled contraption, she accidentally calls people on her contact list. I've gotten two such calls already today. My sister gets accidental calls on a regular basis as well now. The upside is: now I know what to get mom for Christmas.
