November 11, 20214 yr @Doreensfree, I had planned on getting a flu shot at my Dr appt last week and then the booster in December but my Dr didn't have any left so since I was overdue for it just decided to chance it lol. So far no extra limbs are growing so I think I'll be fine 😄
November 11, 20214 yr @jillar I had my flu and shingles shot at the same time and didn't grow a tail and horns lol All though some people might think differently😂😂😂😂
November 11, 20214 yr Sorry to hear most of all that you have a headache, if you have them put ice packs on your forehead and the back of your neck, it helps me with migraine. The sore arms will feel better in a day of two. I got shingles and flu in the same arm. I will be happy when they can give us everything in just one jab!
November 11, 20214 yr @Linda Are you feeling better this morning or afternoon? I just got up, days and nights are upside down right now. Do you have someone nearby to come spoil you a little? I don't know anything about Afib but I know enough to know you went thru a scare. K
November 11, 20214 yr I had my flu jab roughly 3 weeks ago....I'm not having my booster till 27 th November... Thankfully I don't have to suffer two sore arms ....whether I grow horns and a tail will remain to be seen ..lol...

Yes it can be scary but I have dealt with it for awhile. Its been under control for along time just rears it ugly head once in a while.I'm pretty good at spoiling myself. Lol
November 11, 20214 yr @Bat, I do have a great couch, only because I put people that don't feel well on there and proceed to spoil them rotten. It is the only thing I am good at. When you feel bad you just need someone to cook good food, keep you comfortable, entertain with things you enjoy (must say I hate football but I have watched a lot of it). I am searching for a new couch now, must be good leather since I have dogs, will tolerate spills of beer and drinks, be overstuffed, have a deep seat depth and sit high. I have learned all this is important for entertaining and caregiving. It is liking hunting a unicorn! K
November 11, 20214 yr @jillar, @Doreensfree and @Linda, Well girls, I do not know how you have avoided growing the horns and tail but do not worry with the proper hairstyle and spanx you can hide that s*** and only show them off when neccessary. LOL K

November 11, 20214 yr @Linda that is not a sense of a humor, I really have horns and a tail. I am working on growing my nails long again (broken in the last altercation) and seeing the dentist to have my teeth sharpened. You must be prepared for anything. LOL K
November 11, 20214 yr I am doing commercial cleaning, if the TV goes to a commercial cleaning, I get up and do something. Current tasks are unload the dishwasher and work on laundry, bottom rack done, underwear done, got to go fold the towels. K

As far as side effects, my arms are sore and a headache. I also got a flu shot in the other arm so that's why both arms are sore. I don’t have the courage to get the booster and flu shots at the same time. I’m not sure I even want the booster, but my man thinks we should get them. I always get my flu shot, but haven’t yet.
November 12, 20214 yr @Katgirl, I didn't want to either but it was just easier since my Dr didn't have any left.
November 12, 20214 yr I am going thru insurance info online for open season selections I have as a widow in federal coverage. It is such a pain in the a** comparing everything. I have not changed since he died but the monthly premiums just keep going up. They now have more choices so I have to compare everything, see if my doctors are on the plan yada yada. It will be even harder when I qualify for medicare. K
November 12, 20214 yr @Katgirl you know better than that, get your booster and your flu shot. I got the flu and my first shingles at the end of August at the same time, no problems. Just had the shingles booster. Will be trying to find out when I can get the third Covid. You are a professional in medical care. You have more knowledge than most of us. You know what you and your guy need to do. Why the delay...are both of you trying to get sick so you can quarintine? Heck someone just move in somewhere together and be safe, not sorry together. K

Heck someone just move in somewhere together and be safe, not sorry together. K That’s a whole other can of worms. I still have not made the commitment to give up my place and move in permanently. I can’t explain it, except to say it’s my safety net, having my own home, just in case. It’s ridiculous, because I am hardly ever there. As for the immunizations, I will most likely get them. Part of me wonders if we are being scammed by the pharmaceutical industry into getting boosters we don’t need. And as for the shingles vac, I got them, and I have never been so sick, as I was after getting both doses. I was down for 3 days, both times. It was awful. Hopefully I am immune. I will definitely get my flu shot next week.
November 12, 20214 yr I would go by the advice of your doctors and ultimately the decision is yours. There is no right or wrong decision as some claim there is. If your doctor's advice sets off red flags, question him or her and if they don't provide real answers and instead quickly recite CDC talking points, find another doctor. My point - if a doctor cannot answer questions which you have the right to know and simply rely on the same information that you can get from the CDC/FDA/NIH websites (their information leads to many questions), you might as well use Google for medical advice. Not a good idea and neither is taking medical advice from a CDC mouthpiece who is afraid of losing his/her medical license. As far as shingles, I've had it twice. Both times I was denied a vaccine for it because I wasn't old enough (have to be at least 50-yrs old). I'm glad that I didn't take it when I was eligible because my doctor told me that each time somebody gets shingles, it's a much milder form than the previous infection. In my case, this was true. I'm sure this isn't the same experience for everybody; nothing ever is. As far as big pharma, CDC and the FDA is concerned, I used to trust them completely. Once I started digging into the big tobacco lawsuits and watching and reading the junk science our own government was purposely putting out, I grew skeptical of these institutions and what motivated them. They did not have the health and well-being of society as their main motive. Heck, it wasn't even a motive at all, during those times. Money was. Politics was. Greed was. It still goes on today as big tobacco has spun a wide web into third world countries to capture young children. It's a disgusting, evil thing to watch and yet only concerned citizens ever voice opposition. Where is the CDC/FDA and our elected officials to reign this in? That's a rhetorical question. Fast forward to January 2020 to present day. I gave the NIH, CDC and the FDA the benefit of the doubt but watched their messaging very closely. It wasn't adding up early on and is even worse today. It reminds me so much of big tobacco and the junk science that harmed so many. I do not trust anything coming out of our medical institutions right now and they will need to be gutted for me ever to consider trusting anything coming out of them. COVID-19 is real. I had it and survived it. Over 1.5 yrs later, I'm still dealing with its effects. Thankfully, I live in a part of the country where I have access to some very good doctors who actually practice medicine and science. They're not afraid to dissent from the MSM narrative and help patients. They tell you the truth - the good, the bad, the ugly and even tell you when they don't have an answer. They treat patients and do not tell them to go home until you can't breathe and then go to the ER, like my former doctor did. Unacceptable. Demand better. No settling allowed. While we live through these very difficult times in which our elected and appointed officials alike, have undermined basic trust in what is supposed to be the foundation of medicine in this country, it's ever-important to listen to all arguments with an open mind, play devil's advocate with yourself and see if your own conclusions still hold water. Or, has your bucket of knowledge sprung a leak or two? We owe it to ourselves and loved ones. We have to be an assertive participant in our own healthcare, even if that means offending arrogant physicians. The good ones, don't mind patients asking questions, even challenging questions and in fact, they expect it and they will give you their honest opinions.
November 12, 20214 yr Linda. I totally respect your hesitation in giving up your home. I know you care deeply about your guy. I will never be in that position because that is what I have chosen. Keep your home until and split time between both places. Never give up anything that makes you feel safe and secure. I often think I should sell my home but I do love it. For now there is no where I would rather be. I am sorry that you were so sick after the shingles vax, I did not have any problems. I get every vax available. If we look back in history we can see the overall advantage. Look how far things have come. There are many diseases that have been eradicated by advances in science and medicine. My husband participated in clinical trials for his cancer. It gave him many more years with us and he would be proud that one of the drugs was FDA approved to treat brain cancer in children. It did not cure it but gave families more time together. Everyone's outlook on these things is different. For me if there is a vax to prevent or cause a lesser case I will take it. If I get sick with something that has clinical trials, I would do them. I have lived a long life, I am no longer afraid to step forward and help for the future. We are leaving here the same way. Better to leave something behind that might help others.
November 12, 20214 yr I have no doubt Covid is real. Several of my friends and family have had it, and survived. As a medical professional, and a logical thinker, some of the info being disseminated makes me crazy. We are being told that no matter which initial vaccine we received, any booster will do….WHAT?? That sounds crazy to me. If I do get a booster, it will be the same brand, as my initial vaccine. I am very disturbed at how the media is treating people who aren’t holding the party line. Lately, NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers is in the hot seat. I have noticed I haven’t seen his Insurance Co. commercials, since his infamous interview. How can you blame a man in his prime for worrying about his reproductive future, and deciding against the vaccine? Two of my 3 sons have the same concerns. One won’t get vaccinated, and the other made sure he got the J and J, only because he had to get vaccinated, as a member of our military. We are living in unprecedented times. I wear an N95 mask, whenever I venture out, which isn’t very often. I am not convinced that the flimsy things other people are using, to mask up, are effective. Again, common sense. I really hope I live to see the day, when life gets back to some kind of normal.
November 12, 20214 yr @KatgirlI must admit that I really try to not pay attention to the news to much. The only thing that matters is your opinion and your doctors advice. Society in general, with the advance of technology has gone beserk. I have not even heard about the fertility issue. I can understand the concern that as a couple that experienced that first hand. They could never explain why my husband had a low count and not good swimmers. Was it because he was a preemie way back in 1959, was it because he came of age in the 70's when smoking weed was his thing and smoking cigarettes was mine. Who knows...there are so many things out there now that damage is being done to so many of our young people that won't be known for decades. My Mom passed a couple of years ago at the age of 90. She never drank, smoked and for most of her life did not eat meat. She worked hard, kept a huge garden with fruit trees, canned and preserved her food. She walked miles everyday when she got older. It was not her body that gave up it was dementia in the end. Each person must weigh the pros and cons of their life decisions and do what they feel is right for them. I wish I had not smoked all those years but that was a decision I made. I and I alone am responsible for that. I do not think we will know the damage or see a complete return to normal in our lifetimes. I just pray that society recognizes the danger of the possiblities in the future of the world and is more prepared than we were this time.
November 12, 20214 yr @MarylandQuitter I will be the first to say I do not consider myself to be a smart person but I have experienced things that involve the NIH and the FDA. My husband was diagnosed with a rare form of skin cancer. We were given 2 years at the most. Started traditional chemo to slow disease progression. All that time I was searching for something. I found a clinical trial through the NIH, we went to to our oncologist, he informed us the chemo was not helping. Then he said there might be a trial for us. I said I know and pulled out the information I had printed out. He said yes, that is the one. I was already ahead of the doctor. Yes we do have to advocate, be informed and make decisions about our care. We lived in Texas, the trial was in Arizona. I contacted them and sent all of my husband's records. We were invited to enter the trial. They paid for airfare, hotel, rental car and meals. They were wonderul to us. Most of all the drug was oral in nature and did not make him sick, they paid for all the ct scans. pet scans, blood work, surgeries my husband had. From this trial we went from a year or so to getting five years and one month. My husband was able to continue with work that he loved. My husband got to see our son graduate from high school and enter college. I (and I am sure my husband) was proud that I found out a couple of months after my husband died this drug was approved for brain cancer in children which gave them a quality extended life with their families. So, yes I do support the NIH/CDC and that people research, learn all they can and be proactive in their/families healthcare. So I say research, read, be proactive and most of all we all know the danger of smoking. You can quit, it will take effort but there are people that will help you!!
November 13, 20214 yr I am setting at my desk eating a cucumber salad with raspberry vinaigrette dressing. This was suppose to be for this evening But I got hungry and it just looked so good I thought it would be great for a lunch thing also.
November 13, 20214 yr I am on Grandma duty. The grandson is grounded right now from certain things ie video games, computer etc.. I don't like to be put in the position of enforcer. If the child is grounded, then the parents should be grounded to make sure the child understands the reason for the punishment. How do they expect the child to learn if they are not willing to take the time to enforce and have deep conversations with the child. I always felt it necessary to go back over the thing that got them into trouble. I don.t know who said it but "If you don't make trouble there will be no trouble" Now @Opahcan I have some of your salad?
November 13, 20214 yr Its history, Now the next one I have will be larger have dries cranberry's, walnuts and almonds in it. Damn that was good, hell you could throw some popcorn shrimp in there to. Definitely work on this salad figure out what will be tasty with that raspberry vinaigrette YUM
