January 7, 201610 yr Sorry, I just needed to do that. I've now been sick for more than a week with a vicious tickly cough & sinuses so bad I've gone several nights with literally no sleep, including last night. Right now I'm in my living room wearing wool socks, sweat pants, two thick sweaters and a toque (a Canadian wool hat for heathens) drinking cough syrup, peppermint liquorice tea, hot lemon and honey, and whiskey (not all at the same time), gargling with salt water, boiling ginger root concentrate, and my chest throat and nose are smeared with Tiger Balm Red. I swear if I don't sleep tonight you'll all hear about it on the news tomorrow. Plus my parents' cat died. Actually that was a few days ago and I wasn't gonna say anything, but I'm bummed out - he was theirs but I was the only one who could pick him up (on account of he was a jerk) and when I did he would drool. Lived to be 21 (on account of he was a jerk), and started having major seizures while I was up for Xmas - I had to hold him down. :( I have more pictures of that cat than the rest of my family put together. Below is the very last one. RIP Potsie ps Despite all that, it never occured to me that I'd like a cigarette, even for a second.

January 7, 201610 yr I'm sorry about the little drooling jerk. Twenty one years is a good run and offers lots of good memories. Sometimes, it's just a good day to stay in bed.
January 7, 201610 yr So sorry about your potsie. Have you tried Vicks on the soles of your feet with cotton socks over it? Do you get vicks there? x
January 7, 201610 yr So sorry about your potsie. Have you tried Vicks on the soles of your feet with cotton socks over it? Do you get vicks there? x Wow...never heard of this...but will defo try it ..in the future...I love that smell...
January 7, 201610 yr Vicks on the feet is awesome. I hope that you get to feeling better. Sorry about Potsie. 21 is a great long life for a kitty.
January 7, 201610 yr Wow...never heard of this...but will defo try it ..in the future...I love that smell... A thick coating over the instep part of your foot and covered with a cotton sock (must be cotton to be breathable) and it's like magic on helping ease the overnight coughs. x
January 8, 201610 yr Author Have you tried Vicks on the soles of your feet with cotton socks over it? Do you get vicks there? You know, I actually saw references to this seemingly insane practice while frantically googling where I could put Tiger Balm (note - even putting it on the outside of your nostrils burns like the sun). The internet told me it was bollocks - you've actually done this with success?

The internet told me it was bollocks - you've actually done this with success? Been using this technique with both children for 3 years successfully, I used it once when I was desperate (grim but worked), I prefer to shower with sprigs of eucalyptus before bed. Sounds like utter nonsense but really works!
January 8, 201610 yr Oh to add, ONLY works if you put a coating over the instep part of your foot...toes and heels do nothing, too light a coating and it doesn't work either. x
January 9, 201610 yr I'm really sorry about your parent's cat. Man, it is tough to lose our animal friends. I hope you're feeling better.
January 11, 201610 yr Author Thanks kids, I'm on the way up finally, hope I don't get hit again like that for a while. Next time I might have to smear crap on my feet.
January 11, 201610 yr So glad you are feeling better, and so sorry about Potsie... it is hard to lose a friend who has been part of your life for 21 years.
