November 3, 201411 yr My mum smokes roll ups I have been staying with her since I landed to sort out lots of things for her, mostly I have been cleaning! She only warms one room up and that's where she sits puffing away morning, noon and night She is disabled so cannot do any cleaning etc so you can just imagine what I am faced with here She does not open any Windows or doors to let in fresh air as she wants to keep the heat in I am in a hell vortex! Lovely to see her and be able to help but cannot wait to go to my friends house today for 4 days and be able to breathe The smell is unbearable and I have been washing like a demon, I do not lecture her but it's so hard I sleep in the same bed and can hear her chest rattling in the night, it's heart breaking but only strengthens my will that I will not end up like that! I put this here as she stalks me lol and I don't want to upset her I feel dirty and unhealthy but determined Anyone romancing come and stay here for a week! Other than that everything is tickety boo :)
November 3, 201411 yr Tracey I am sorry you have live amid the smokey stench, while watching your mom suffer and even sorrier that your mom can't see it for what it is. Go outside and get some fresh air and you will feel better. (((Tracey)))
November 3, 201411 yr (((Tracey)))). So sorry for what is happening and hoping you and you're mum are both ok - stay strong sweetie ..love ya xx
November 3, 201411 yr I am so relieved to have quit smoking and not lay that burden on my daughter in the future. Getting old, dotty and decrepit is one thing but, to add self induced suffering and delusion is extra hideous not to mention dangerous with second hand smoke ! Oh, hang in there Tracey and do your kindest best. Stars in your Crown, beautiful daughter. Love, S
November 3, 201411 yr Fair play to you for putting up with it and doing all you do for her, very hard when they get older and stuck in their ways, just no talking to them, can imagine the stench, especially roll ups they reek, You're a marter hun xxx
November 3, 201411 yr Oh sweet one....its the hardest thing....and frustrating thing too. To watch someone close distroying them selves slowly....but.....it has to come from them....until they decide to change ... All we can do is look after our selves the best we can.....And hope one day things will change.... Sending love and hugs your way....
November 3, 201411 yr So sorry, Tracey! That has to be very hard...you are a wonderful daughter. Glad you can get away to a friend's house for a few days...(((Tracey)))
November 3, 201411 yr I'm sorry to hear that Tracey, but at last you get a rest while you stay with your friend! I too dislike the smell of cigarettes if I am exposed to it for any period of time...!
November 3, 201411 yr I can't imagine being in one room with cigarette smoke and no fresh air! Even when I smoked I didn't like that smell! ((((Tracey))))
November 4, 201411 yr Tracey, staying with your Mum and helping her out like that is a real labor of love. Not everybody would put themselves through such unpleasant circumstances. I hope that you have a nice visit with your mother but I also hope you won't have to be there very long. Focus on the good things in life-- visiting your friend for a few days and then next month, back to the States.
November 4, 201411 yr Author It's really weird but I have had a few cravings at my friends I wonder how much is nostalgia or what's in second hand smoke? But all is good my friends mum . Died two weeks ago so feet firmly on the ground xx
November 5, 201411 yr Sorry about your friends mum Tracey...if it was smoke related...then it's a good reminder for you.... But I have no doubts you will stay strong.....Rez would kick your butt....and more.... Hugs xxxx
November 5, 201411 yr put a pillow over your mother face to muffle the rattling, be careful not to hold it down too hard or she just might quit smoking the hard way
November 7, 201411 yr I'm so sorry for you my friend. I understand the helplessness and send you strength. X
November 9, 201411 yr L.o.l....fabreeze is my best friend too Tracey....well anything with a nice smell I can get my hands on..... Your doing your best honey....no one can ask more than that.....one day at time.....
November 9, 201411 yr Trace I need to tell you there is a new guy at work, sits very close to me and he stinks to high heaven of nasty cigarettes. I need to get something to put on my desk that will rid the smell or at least make it so I don't smell this guy. At the same time, it can't be an offensive smell, I don't want to bother anyone else. He is very loud too, I wear headphones in one ear to lessen it :o
November 9, 201411 yr It's so weird! They must have changed the formulation of cigarettes or something this year. I certainly didn't smell that bad or that strongly when I smoked, did I? Well...did I??!! :bad:
