today I go out into the big wild world im going to attempt to get on the 2 buses I need to get to the animal shelter and do my first stint of volunteer work

I am nervous but excited i know once I have done this once i will be ok

I seem to have lost some of my confidence I had in my youth but Im guessing this is a good thing to be a little cautious at the beginning

I have spoken to a few fellow animal loving neighbours so thats nice and I have met a nice lady who wants to go for walks with her dog and have coffee the only down side to this is she wants me to go to church with her - my salvation days are long gone lol but it might be an opportunity to meet more people and to do some more volunteer work as they they volunteer in nursing homes, prisons, homeless and addicts so its an avenue I will explore as long as they dont want me to preach!

will update you later hopefully not from detroit!!

I know you have clean Big Girl panties on and will have a great time.

Have fun !

Everyone will adore you, count on it !!!

Love,

S

Lol. Just caught up with this thread.

Tracey keep your top on while volunteering.

I did it   B) although not without drama!

I get on first bus and say to the driver please tell me when I need to get off as I dont know where to  :imnewhere: - oh "yes mam no problem"

30 minutes later and I am nearly in Cleveland! - driver calls me to the front "oh mam your stop was way back, I gone and forgot about you"  :girl_cray2: WHAT?????

"i will set you down right here and here is a free ticket go across the road and get the 51 bus right back"

Holy crap and all that is furry where the hell did he set me down? it looked like Beirut! I did not feel safe there at all and I did not wait for the 51 bus i jumped on the first bugger that came along to just get me out of there!

Met a nice driver on this bus and she set me in the right direction and then i had to get another bus to the shelter

Yay I made it to the shelter, walked 1 dog and then the power went out and we volunteers had to leave OMG!

thank goodness rez was picking me up as i was exhausted by now lol

on the plus side I met a nice Lebanese Volunteer so I might be getting lifts in with her in the future :)

Rez and I retraced the bus route and i wrote it all down :)

so although quite nerve racking I was thrilled to have done it and confident i can do it now without any drama!

going to the mall today is going to be easy as cheese cake which before yesterday seemed daunting :)

things are getting better  :P

Ohhh I'm sorry the bus driver forgot about you. I know that is horrible! :( New shoes at the mall today might make it better!

jimmy just liked her company, didn't forget.

stick with walked dogs and not addicts. addicts will like to walk you to real bad places. plus they stop and smell each other's butts more

Yes I will probably not do the prison or addicts way above my league but will do the nursing homes they sniff butts too :)

Aww. Tracey.....

I was full of fear for you reading that.....plonked in the middle of nowhere....scary....

You did the right thing high tailed it out of there....

Let's hope it gets better,ya a lift sounds ideal.....

I would have probably curled up in a ball .....your a gutsy lady.....

Hugs xx

plunked down in the middle of ohio is scary flat

plunked in the middle of any unfamiliar place in 'Murica sucks.

Ya, but to be stuck in Cleveland is THE worst possible situation for anyone visting this wonderful country.

Dear Tracey,

Your adventure had the potential to have scared the pants off me and I am pretty street smart and live in a dangerous city !

I have been in your boots and it sucks.

Below is a link to google earth where you can get directions, get bus routes, bike routes, walking routes etc.

PLUS, you can have a look at 'street view' and really identify where the f-ck you are going and what it will look like when you get there.

I use this ALL the time, in town and especially in towns I visit.

I have found it ESSENTIAL.

It took me a while to figure out all the things you can do on the site but,  it was time well spent

Glad you have your third eye watching behind you and guardian angels working overtime for you.

here is the map, https://www.google.com/maps/place/Ohio/@40.1903624,-82.6692525,8z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x8836e97ab54d8ec1:0xe5cd64399c9fd916

I have it on Ohio but, I don't know where you are

so, just type in your town and have a virtual stroll around.

Hope this helps, bebe.

Hey Tracey - glad you made it through - and did get to the shelter - sounds scary but look on the bright side - you really are getting to see all parts of the states ... Even the bits you probably didn't want to ! a0d0423989cfe63dbac86525c36d6b54_zpsff34

I managed to get to the mall ok yesterday, I had to wait an hour as 2 buses that should have turned up didnt but I was at my own complex son I was chilled about it then when the bus did turn up I asked "do you go to the mall"

"ummm I dont know I think I do im new I just drive the bus round a route"

"FANTASTIC I THOUGHT THE BLOODY BLIND LEADING THE BLIND!!!!"

after the days before fiasco I decide to just get on the dam bus and figure it out!
