I got the grandson a spiderman car four his fourth christmas. Let me tell you that one was hard to put together. K My mom and dad bought one of those Power Wheels Jeeps for my nephew when he was little. Dad upgraded it to a 24 volt, changed the gear box, and covered the wheels with rubber from old inner tubes so he could get "climbing traction." A normal person looks at one of those little Jeeps and says: "That's a nice toy for a child." A hillbilly looks at the same Jeep and says: "I know how we can get more power out of this thing."
November 24, 20214 yr Author I have a better understanding of the grandparent code now. Was talking to my mom earlier today getting the final details for Thanksgiving settled. The conversation quickly turned to Miss Maddie. I explained that the little gal is doing great, but we are having a problem with the word "no" right now. Last night she was playing with a wooden box filled with pictures that we keep on the coffee table. With where her hands were I could see her accidentally closing the lid on her fingers. So I took the box away from her and explained that the picture box is not a toy. That's when the drama started...she puckered up her bottom lip and looked sad. She can break out the little lip pucker at the drop of a hat now. Maddie pulls out the "woe is me" routine when I tell her no; she goes more for the test of wills when Sugar Britches tells her no. After explaining all this, my mom says: "that doesn't sound like her, that little girl is sweet as can be." I have a good relationship with my mother, but if she's choosing sides...she will go with Maddie over me every time.
November 24, 20214 yr Aww that word No ......it's the hardest word .. Im sure there will be plenty of No,s ahead .... But I do have to come and defend Nana,s ....it is a very special relationship..... We will always be on our little people's side ..no matter what they do.... Better get used to this Boo....Lol...
November 25, 20214 yr I had my grandson the last couple of days. I rarely have to use that word. When he is with me he is an angel. His folks say I should see him at home, they forget they lived here for 3 years. There were a few times I had to tell him no. We had the occasional mishaps with crayons involved, too much paper in the potty but that was it. My son thought NO was part of his name, he was a. little boy that was into everything. I am still exhausted just thinking about it.
November 30, 20214 yr Author Maddie is taking some artistic liberties with "The Greatest Story Ever Told." She has one of those Fisher-Price Little People Nativity sets in her room. The manger is overrun with penguins. The three wise men have been joined by a fireman and a little girl in a pink dress. Joseph and a camel are riding around in a school bus. Not historically accurate, but Maddie does have an interesting take on the story of Christmas.
December 12, 20214 yr Author Maddie is officially in her new bedroom tonight. We put the finishing touches together this afternoon and Miss Maddie is sleeping in her toddler bed tonight. She is pretty good about sleeping through the night, but we have no idea if the move from crib to bed is going to entice her to get up and explore in the middle of the night. I put a sensor on her door that we can turn on at night just in case. I'm going to pat myself on the back a little here. Sugar Britches had the idea of framing up the toddler bed with a roof so that it looks like a little house. I built it and and ran a string of mini LED lights around the fascia and ridge...just to jazz it up a bit. Gotta say, I'm right proud of my own handiwork. As I'm writing this, Maddie has been in her new bed for over an hour and she hasn't set out on any great adventures. So, we're off to a good start.
December 12, 20214 yr That sounds awesome boo, what a lucky little girl she is 🙂 I can't believe she's already in a toddler bed, they sure grow up fast!
December 12, 20214 yr Awww.....You and Sugar Britches have made her move exciting .... What little girl doesn't like lights and a house bed ....A great Idea..... I'm sure she will love her new surroundings..... Nice work you two lovelies 👍❤🐸
December 13, 20214 yr Aw I love the sound of Maddies new house bed, it sounds magical. What a lucky little lady she is. I too love fairy lights and hang them round my bed, I find them so relaxing 😊mine are just white, and twinkle. In the dark, it looks like a starry night.
December 13, 20214 yr It seems all us little girls no matter our age love them. I have glow in the dark planets and stars on my ceiling 😊

Nothing serious, a bit congested and just not feeling like her normal self. She got a lot of pampering. Cuddled and hugged on all day. And we watched March of the Penguins...again. She didn't enjoy being sick, but I don't think she minded all the attention.
January 10, 20224 yr March on Daddy, she is getting you ready for her brother. She wants you to brush up on the Dad skills for the future of no sleep, changing diapers, reading stories, singing good night songs, giving baths etc. She is helping prepare for the new arrival. Make note to self when changing Boo2 diapers cover that little wink wink of you are going to get it right in the face. Don't worry, you will laugh until you cry! Hope Ms Maddie is feeling better!
January 10, 20224 yr Aww ...Poor baby girl .... Hope she,s soon back to normal... Hugs from Nana Toad 🐸🐸🐸❤
January 12, 20224 yr Author 1 hour ago, Doreensfree said: How's our little one doing today ...hope she back to her usual happy self 💕🐸 Miss Maddie is back up to full speed now. She really didn't feel well on Sunday and was still a bit out of form on Monday. Yesterday and today she has been good to go. I bought her a get well soon gift Monday. A Play-Doh kitchen creations playset. Maddie loves to help in the kitchen, so she's enjoying her new toy. And with Maddie doing her "cooking" in Play-Doh form now, Sugar Britches is left with fewer messes to clean up in the kitchen. Brought a bit of joy to the wife and daughter with one gift...I'm getting pretty good at this.
January 12, 20224 yr Good news .... I would say ....your doing just fine at this Papa stuff... That's thinking outside the box .........Smart 👍
January 15, 20224 yr Oh Miss Maddy needs to check out a lovely little Aussie movie called Oddball...it's based on a true story about dog that protects a colony of Little Penguins from foxes. It's more about the dog and hus people but there are penguins, cute little Aussie ones 😀. You could check out the penguin parades on YouTube....during the many lockdowns in Melbourne they would live stream the penguin parade at Philip Island each night because joone could go. Fun penguin fact, a group of penguins in the water is called a raft but a group of penguins on is called a waddle.

Maddie can waddle like a penguin. And she does a side-shuffle. She also walks with her knees high up like she's marching. She is working on a walk where she kicks one leg out in front of her and catches up with it; she tends to get a little off balance when she does that one. She's been rolling out new walks for a couple of weeks now for laughs. Could be this is her way of paying tribute to Monty Python's "Ministry of Silly Walks" sketch.
February 5, 20224 yr Author Maddie goes down for a nap whenever and wherever she decides. This afternoon she laid down on the rug in front of the kitchen sink and dozed off. The days of putting her down for a nap are over. Now she just goes as long as she can and naps wherever she decides to lay her head down. Sugar Britches found her curled up in the corner beside the desk in our home office a couple of days ago. This morning I heard Maddie in her room. She had her stuffed animals lined up and was really talking to them; lots of babbling complete with hand gestures and everything. I'm not sure if she was just getting her animals up to speed on recent happenings or if she might be planning something bigger. She will also stop what she's doing, go in the kitchen, grab some random item in there (spatula, measuring cup, etc.), then pick right back up with whatever she was doing before. I say this with nothing but love in my heart...toddlers are weird little people.
