We are in this age group which was suppose to start February 8th.  We are signed up at 4 different places and still have not been called.  They say they are behind on the 70 age group.  I am so anxious to get stuck already.  I want to finally feel there is going to be an end to all this.

Linda, do you have Walgreen's pharmacies in Ohio? They have an appt process on their website and you put in your zipcode and how far you want to travel and it let's you know which stores have available appts for the Covid-19 vaccine.....that's how we got our actual appts. We were on several county call lists and never heard from anyone.....

There's little to no vaccine in Canada so we'll be entertaining ourselves in lockdown until 2022 (or 3)?

Yes Rozuki.  I am signed up at Walgreens, Drug Mart, Giant Eagle, University Hospitals and The Health Department.  I was so excited that our age group was able to get it Feb. 8th.  All these places said we would be contacted.  We call every couple of days and they say they are behind and still doing the last group (70 yrs).  Now they are talking about doing the teachers in our community.  They may put our off.  I just can't wait!

I know I'm getting MORE than just 2 shots 😋

  • 2 weeks later...

What's also cool is that since I'm now an active fb member I was able to share my good fortune with the members in a group I belong to who were also having trouble getting an appointment and several of them got one too. Which in turn helps everyone. :)

Shot 1 done, shot 2 in 28 days 😊

Good for you!!!

Damn, that first shot kicked my butt yesterday but I'm feeling a little better today. Not looking forward to the second shot at all since they say the side effects are worse than the first shot 😞

My dad is 91, fell and broke his tibia and had spent the last 7 weeks in a nursing home.  Due to the virus, we were not able to visit him.  We would visit him by standing outside his window.  He would plead for us to bring him home because he was not being cared for.  It was a big battle with the nursing home fighting our decision but we finally got him home with 24 hour nursing care.  Unfortunately, we have had to put him on hospice care.  He is a mess of bed sores and you can see he did not get the care he should have.  I am heartbroken he had to endure this at the end of his life.  I know we would have had more time with him, if we had gotten him home sooner.  It is worth ever penny having him home and he has a wonderful group of rotating nurses that are taking good care of him.

Due to the virus, many families are having to endure this nightmare.  Many of these nursing home patients are helpless and cannot be monitored.  Many of them do not have advocates that can fight for them.
