It seems to okay to me. I am not good with tech but I am finding my way around. I don't understand what your Grrrr is for but as long as I can get here for a dose of strength I am good. Thanks Kris
  2. My mom had dementia. when she got a UTI, she would go totally off. Introducing me as here 16 year old daughter. Not knowing where she was, even though she had been living with me for some time. It is a scary time trying to figure things out.
  3. We have a peach festival here in July. All the fresh peaches you could want, you can even buy a bushel. They also have a huge farmers market there with everything you could want. They close down the city square in Weatherford Texas. There are vendors of arts, crafts and food.

Thanks @jillar I am lost right now.
  5. I am or was a pretty good cook when I had people to cook for. Now it is just me. Most of the time I do not feel like it. I try to cook a casserole once a week, the rest of the time it is the easy or quick stuff. Baked chicken, steak, salad. I wish you lived closer too! Most of my true cooking was done for others.

I am going to have to say, I am confused and will have to figure out how to do stuff again. Be patient!
  7. Recipes my mother inlaw used to make. Yesterday made casserole of layered mushrooms and eggs and sausage balls. Good for any meal. Honey and cinnamon butter as well. I really miss my inlaws! I married into a great family!
  8. @intoxicated yoda I have been quiet. I have a real good string of migraines going. I did force myself to shower today! Since I was clean, I did get dressed and ran to the neighborhood walmart. In my last two grocery trips there were noted empty shelfs. I did manage to find potatoes, mushrooms and green onions. It is like going on a scavenger hunt without any clues. I also got cottage cheese which I have been eating straight out of the container while watching The Real House Wives of Orange County, Just confirming I still feel like the three toed sloth I mentioned before. Hope everyone is doing well.
  9. Just came to check on the board for a dose of strength. When the computer came on my screen saver was a three toed sloth. That is what I feel like today. Supposed to be doing a cook day but can't seem to make it off the couch. Hope everyone is enjoying their day!
  10. Sorry to hear about your plumbing issues. I had those problems too. I disconnected the ice maker in the fridge and installed a pump type thing to deal with condensation from the air conditioner. I have been thinking of get the hot water heater replaced. I had to have it replaced 10 years ago. The weird thing was my husband had just passed. I lost his Mom 8 days later. I got up to a floor full of water in my bed/bathroom/ closet the morning of her service. Still stranger, when my FIL passed some15 years earlier the hot water heater in her home flooded the morning of his service. Now I have this fear of hot water heaters. I am afraid that if it blows I will lose another person I love. Am I crazy for constant worry about the hot water heater? The other thing on my mind tonight is I have a friend who is having some testing tomorrow. If you could keep this person in your prayers I would really appreciate it.
  11. There maybe enough q tips but there will never be enough make up for me....
  12. @maybaby66 Hi and welcome to the start of your new life. It will be hard at first, just take it a day at a time. There are so many wonderful people here to offer you support and advice. I am only 6 months quit but I can tell you that you will feel better sooner than you think!
  13. Okay, @Sal lets get back to the basics. We are all alive. We will all die one day. We have all been smokers. So, back to the beginning, we are alive, we can make choices right now, what we do to enjoy life. Second, we all will die one day, how do we want to arrive at that point? Do we want it to be sooner or later. I think the answer is we want to enjoy our life and we want a peaceful easy death. Right now those are the two questions we need to ask ourselves. That will guide us, give us strength, help us do the right thing no matter how hard. We have to look at reality, there is no do over, we only have to really think about these things. We can make the right decision.
  14. You are killing it! You have conquered more than one beast at a time. Not only have you quit smoking, you have worked hard on other things, like more exercise, watching your diet. You have travelled in a time most of us have stayed put. Let's face it you take on a challenge and get the job done. Congratulations!!
  15. @jillar Thanks for being there, I do try to be careful about things. I have tried to do many things here at the house that have been a s***show. I have replaced plumbing fixtures, took apart pipes under sinks to clean out clogs with great success. My first disaster was trying to fix a toliet and I had water shooting straight to the ceiling. That was a fun one. You never know what you can do until you try. I do have a no electricity clause because that would be a killer if you know what I mean LOL
  16. @Sal, The only problem I see is that you are still abusing your lungs, not what you are smoking. Once the damage to your lungs, regardless of what you are smoking, the damage can't be undone. I know this kind of straight up honesty seems cruel, it is not intended. I was there when my husband lungs stopped working. He never was a smoker of tobacco, just the other. He also had a skin cancer that moved to his lungs. Had he never smoked anything we might have had more time together. The number one thing they listed on the death certificate was Acute Respiratory Failure, the second was the cancer. You are going to have to dig deep on this one. Smoking anything is bad, you need to give the edibles another chance, as they are the way to freedom from the need to smoke something, your body will adapt. I can't say it will be easy, I have no idea, we do not have the option in my state. You have options, use them.
  17. @Sal When I first joined the board I did not know what a thread was or how anything worked. I am way behind (did I say way, way) on technology. Did not have a clue and I still have to ask poor @jillar questions.
  18. Bringing this one back for all of our new members or lurkers as some may be. @Sal @TONY we are here for you and happy you are on the train. I know that you are facing a challenge everyday but you are winning. That is the most amazing thing for me, that there are so many out there that want to quit and are doing it. It is possible but even at the beginning we did not think so. We take the challenge one day at a time. Then everyday we feel better physically and mentally. Kind of a rush don't you think, that we can win, at least that is how it feels to me.
  19. 10. check the obits to see if you are there. Q-Tips
  20. shop! shop! shop! for anything and everything!
  21. Okay @jillar Do we need to start monitoring for the little bunnies in your charge. You are supposed to keep them sober but watch the mating. (I must say, it shocks me that there are so many bunnies on adoption websites. We all think of dogs and cats but there are many bunnies that need a good home.)
  22. @Boo, I have never read the books of Larry McMurtry. I have been a big watcher of his movies thru my husband and our best friend. I will admit that I am in love with Gus McCrea and Woodrow Call. My husband and our best friend have now passed. I have their ashes here with me. I have to make a decision on what to do at some point I need to spread their ashes. I live about 20 minutes away from Lonesome Dove Road. We travelled the road often as teenagers. I think that might be the most poetic place to have my son spread all of out ashes once I pass.
  23. @AceWhite Sorry I missed this earlier, been under the weather. You not only have my adoration for your quit but also that you celebrate doing things that most of us only dream of. You are running, biking, swimming and ice skating. I always thought you must be in your 20s or 30s. You are at an age when most of us slow down but you are out the tearing it up. I am jealous!!
  24. Steven, Sorry I missed your milestone, I too have been ill. Worried it might be Covid but I now I don't think so. Sore throat, aches and pains, chills and fatigue. No fever, so I just think it is a reaction to allergies and the weather. I hope you are feeling better. You have hit your 7th month mark. That is so great, each day is a gift and I hope you have many more! I will never catch up, I am only at six months. I think when you start this with a person in the same timeline it makes it easier to keep going when you see them do so well. Thanks for all your help!
  25. Linda, I could not be more proud and happy for you. You have really kept me going with my quit! I am so thankful for all your support since I joined the board. You have shown courage and determination thru all the crap parts and been uplifting, positive, kind and generous to us all.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
