  2. Long term dietary changes are the best way to lose weight because it will last. Not the up and down that will drive you crazy. Allow yourself some indulgence`s but have a plan and stick to it. Exercise, walk whenever it is possible. Sleep on a regular basis as you need it. It is like quitting cigs, different for everyone except realistic goals can be reached if you apply the same determination as quitting. Consult a doctor if you have conflicting health problems. You need proper nutrition for all body functions to work.
  3. I have used an intermittent type fasting when I have diverticulitis flare ups. It is similar to a colonoscopy type fast except I do eat soft well cooked veggies in broth. It helps me through times and it is good for weight loss if that is your goal but as Katgirl mentioned you don`t get the nutrition in the long run.

  5. Hang in there and don`t smoke. The crave will pass and you will be the better for it. Caving in will only make things worse. Stay strong and fight it. Keep busy and keep occupied doing things. Please hang in there. It will pass and you will feel better for having not given in. best wishes. Stay close.
  6. Great job Amy!

  20. Casino`s. The worst. Worked Las Vegas as a musician back in the late seventies until mid eighties. I smoked then but no need to light up. smoke filled and they even had complimentary smokes at the table games. A few tried non-smoking area`s but I don`t think they ever took hold. Suit I wore always stunk of smoke even though it was cleaned weekly. Nasty places as far as I`m concerned but to each his own. I hear venting has improved but like most things the money takes first place. They don`t build these places by people winning or being concerned about health.

  22. As a bass player, Dancing Queen is a pop masterpiece of a bass line let alone song. I still enjoy listening to it. Not sure why U-Tube is not letting me paste and copy. I`ve gone back over the years and have listened to live performance`s such as Bee Gee`s "Nights On Broadway" on Midnight Special I think and have been amazed.

  24. Neither of my parents smoked. But a lot of other relatives and friends did so it was acceptable in most places. I remember Mom bringing out ash trays when smokers came over even though she hated the smell in the house. In her later years I would only smoke in a bedroom when I came to visit her or go outside weather permitting. In her last year in a nursing home I would go outside to smoke. I`ll always remember her asking me if I didn`t want to step outside for a smoke and telling her that I was around 3 months quit. I started because I thought it was cool and most of my friends (musicians) did. Should have listened to Mom.
  25. Congratulations on 9 years. You are an example of how it can be done.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
