True SOS-wanting to go and buy cigarettes
garry mhudson replied to Kate18's topic in The S.O.S. Board
Stay strong and try to relax. you`ve come to far to go back because you will only regret it. I would see the doctor as soon as possible for solutions. you don`t want to smoke Kate18. take a chance and reach out to your children. Hang in there. Your tougher than this. Best wishes. -

Similar to Chris` post. Health concerns at the top of the list. Tired of finding a place to smoke when I`m out of the house. Realizing that most of my friends that smoke have quit. The price keeps going up and what a waste of money. Putting that money to better use by just looking around my community and church. . Thinking back about some of the really tough things I`ve been through by choice and realizing I have the power to do this. As chris said "You draw the line". It is over and that is that. Thanks to all here.

Still here and plan to be as long as allowed. No craves anymore and seldom think about it but watchful and realize I am an ex-addict and it has to be NOPE forever.

Welcome Anne. You will find support here for your decision to quit the smokes. It is different for everyone but none of us that have "made it have any special gift. Just want it bad enough to stick to it. Post S.O.S. if things get too tough before lighting up. Craves come and go but for me at least the more I beat them back the easier things became next time. Keep busy and positive. Think of yourself as a non-smoker because after all that is what you are and what you want. See yourself that way and ask for help in any way that suits you. Best wishes. Hope to see you hanging around and kicking this down the road for once and all.

Hooking up with someone who has recently quit and has some same health concerns can be a great help in most things we go through in life. One of the good things about the age of information if used properly and honestly. hang in there because the quit will get easier and more and more benefits are on the way

Congratulations on the 8 month mark Opah! Two third of the way to the big 1 year mark. Great job!

I use to chew the gum when i was a smoker and had to go on long flights. It helped but I did not use it to try to quit. I think Doreen is right on with her advice. Whatever gets you through the night for now but you don`t want to OD on these. Be careful. It is a drug and to much could be harmful. Perhaps someone who used this to quit will offer advice. Your TOUGH also Kris. Hang in there. Best wishes.

Kris, try to find healthy eating alternatives you enjoy. Don`t add stress to an already stressful situation by worrying about weight. There will be time for that later. This is the time to focus on no smokes. Get it off your mind. Not easy I know but try not to let it consume you. It will get easier. We have all been through this and believe me when I say we`re no stronger or better than you. You want it and it can be done. hang in there. Going for my morning walk before the desert heat amps up. Have to self catheter and head out. Stay strong and hang in there. Check back on you. best wishes.

What are you doing to stop the crave.
garry mhudson replied to Kris's topic in Quit Smoking Discussions
Whine away Kris. That`s part of what the site is about. I gained some weight but is was easy to shed once I felt good about my quit. Get the quit going first. whatever gets you through the night except smoking. You seem to be doing the right stuff. Stay busy both mental and physical if possible. Really hoping you get this done. good folks here to help. best wishes. -

What made you make the decision to quit!
garry mhudson replied to Kris's topic in Quit Smoking Discussions
You are pretty tough Kris so I am betting you make this quit stick. Myself, I quit after years of smoking that included a couple short quits and the cutting back that never worked. I fell in the hallway with what I thought was the flu. Turned out to be a viral pneumonia and if a friend had not found me i may have died. Could not stand or crawl to my phone, just passed out with couple rib fractures and concussion. After 2 and a half days in ICU I got to you to a room where the next day they asked if I wanted a patch since i was a smoker. I had been telling myself for years that if only I could get away without smoking for a few days I could quit. time to put up or shut up. Said no to the patch and no to smoking since sept 2016 and I can say it is well worth it whatever time we have left and doing it for your son speaks volumes of character. I wish you well and stick close here. Lots of good folks and and information and support. God bless and hang in there. -
