  1. Oh hang on to that message, your kids being proud....if you do have an urge to smoke just remember how it felt when the kidlets told you they were proud of you.
  2. Ok the results are in....and I can see, from the comments especially, that the Aussies (and our Scouser) eat the same, cutlery down between mouthfuls. So if you are interested in what happened during the meeting meal.... The Aussies, to a man, put their cutlery down between mouthfuls. The Canadian and the Yanks cut everything on their plate into bite size pieces, dropped the knives and then just used their forks. The Brits all cut one mouthful at a time but left their cutlery in their hands between mouthfuls. I think Martian was on the money, it just depends on what you were taught. Thought it was interesting that the patterns were so geographic though.
  3. Both I hope all our Britski mum's had a great day for mother's day.
  4. Congratulations @albert for being 1 year smoke free! Well done Albert and welcome to the Lido Deck... one year of smoke free milestones to prove you can do this for life. Its great to see the daily nopes. So what are you doing to celebrate?
  5. Ok @PorkandPancakes have you had your thyroid checked...just to be on the safe side and rule it out. Lots of smokers never realise they have a thyroid condition until they quit as nicotine masks the symptoms.
  6. Loved these guys and Suze but just discovered a kick arse 'blues' version of one of there biggest hits.... The original The Blues version....
  7. Consumme is clarified broth....so you heat the broth then add a egg white raft which is supposed to pull out the solids and leave you with an almost clear liquid but full of flavour.
  8. Oh Doreen, everybody knows, you can't beat a root ^^ That.... OK so not the healthiest, fittest or thinnest I have been but Keep it Simple Stupid is the way to go. I read somewhere once that more often than not when we feel hungry we are actually thirsty.... most food has a water content and our bodies are programmed to respond to hunger messages than they are to thirst messages... so our body sends the I need a drink message and gets no response so it opts for the i'm hungry message and get some fluids. So this article I read (think it was from the CSIRO) suggested to slowly drink a large, cold glass of water when you feel hungry... wait 15 minutes after you finish it and chances are not hungry no more.
  9. A blow job is better than no job.
  10. Congratulations @Redemption3 for being 3 months smoke free! Well done Potts and welcome to the 25%ers... that's right, you are now 1/4 of the way through you first year quit. That is the 3 hardest months of being quit behind you. Make sure you do something special to celebrate... take your little princess to the park and run around with her enjoying your smoke free lungs.
  11. Congratulations @GloryB and well done on 5 years of freedom.
  12. Congratulations @Chrysalis for being smoke free for 5 years. Well done on your half a decade of freedom. Its great to see you pop in from time to time to support those coming behind. We all hope you do something special to mark this milestone and would love to hear how you are going.
  13. 15 ..you might go to get at 8:47pm...but I'm too old and too young for such an early bed time, besides I just walked in the door from work ..gotta love pubic transport.
  14. 15 morning Notski ....night Reci
  15. 14.... Evening all
  16. Oh you could have just mastered a victory/happy dance for moments like that....the exercise would have even given you an endorphin hit.
  17. Ok...Doreen is not a pom cos she is a scouser...the ones from Liverpool are special...but all the other English are poms... Scots are from Scotland or married to Charlene. Taffies are from Wales Micks are Irish Someone from Nth Ireland, Scotland, Wales, England and some itty bitty Isles can be Brits also.
  18. A Pom is someone from England, also known as a pommy.
  19. I still leave my favourite it for last but I mix everything else. The kid leaves the stuff she hats for last and eats her favourite first because ... the world might end and then she doesn't have to eat it.
  20. So for the record, the meeting was attended by a pom, a Scot, a Mick, 2 yanks, a Canadian, and 4 Aussies.....oh and me but I had a Bento Box so I used chopsticks.
  21. Thinking
  22. So I know it's not Satdee...it's Thursdee...but this is a quick little no brainer....I suspect I know where the chips will fall but just wanna know. So had a business lunch meeting yesterday and noticed the difference between the way people from 3 different regions used their cutlery (yes it was a sintilating meeting) ... So there were 3 distinct styles that were consistent with where the diners came from....I'll reveal all at the end....but let's see if you mob here follow the trend I noted.....so we had steak and veggies or salad and chips....in the board room....how would you have eaten it ....
  23. Winner winner walnut dinner!
  24. Off to work....in a sea of black...Emo Melbourne I you!.... Ballet, meh....but walking along the river bank after 11 at night to the sounds of the day ending and not even thinking me or the kid weren't safe ...yep gotta love my town.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
