  1. Going camping in a no WiFi/LTE zone this weekend.....so an early congrats to you Bakon!
  2. Hi K and welcome! So glad to hear that you're ditching the e-cigs too. I won't go into my tirade about those. Since you already had a quit of several years and still missed it so much, I would suggest you read and educate yourself on the pitfalls of "romancing" the cigarette. You have to shatter the delusion that cigarettes were enjoyable, relaxing, calming, etc. Only when you see them for what they truly are (slow killers, sappers of health and wealth, and accelerators of aging) will you stop longing for them. You can do this! Let us know if you need any help - or just need to rant.
  3. Even Kim Jong-Un is putting on his best face for the BIG DAY!
  4. Hey Jryan. Good to see you. There's no changing the past with regrets and worries. Focus on the wonderful new legacy of health and commitment that you're giving your kids. Best to you and your family.
  5. Notified the caterer of our special request.
  6. I too am looking forward to National Punctuation Day!!! "National Punctuation Day is a celebration of punctuation that occurs each year on September 24 in the United States of America [1]. Founded by Jeff Rubin in 2004, National Punctuation Day simply promotes the correct usage of punctuation. Rubin encourages appreciators of correct punctuation and spelling to send in pictures of errors spotted in everyday life."
  7. Please join me in a declaration of an unshakable NOPE for Tuesday.

  9. Welcome Lynn! Really have to watch out for those nasty bugs over there. Hope you'll find it comfortable over here....there are some really great peeps. Your experience and willingness to pay it forward will be a great asset here.
  10. NOPE
  11. You're right....it's not a big achievement. It's HUGE! Every minute you go smoke free in the early part of your quit is a tremendous success. Just keep it up Shanakor......it does get better with time.
  12. Well done Jackie!
  13. Celebrate your wonderful day beacon!!!
  14. Congrats kenzie!!!!
  15. Hi bjean. You're doing great....even if it feels dismal at times. Sounds like you're experiencing triggers (situations that you strongly associate with smoking). I've copied a link to a post that Marti, a QT member, wrote a while back dealing with triggers. Here you go: https://www.quittrain.com/topic/6195-thoughts-on-triggers/?hl=triggers
  16. Congratulations Breathless!!! Three months is reason to jump for joy.
  17. Congratulations on one week bjean! That's a really big deal. Try not to worry too much about what lies ahead and take pride in what you've already accomplished. You're doing great!
  18. Congrats Jayhawk....keep that great quit going!
  19. Welcome Shanakor. I, like you, tend to rebel from rigid and repetitious doctrine. However, when I look back on my decades-long smoking addiction, maybe that's the reason it lasted so long. I thought I knew better than those who actually successfully quit. The reason you hear the same slogans over and over is because they work. Open your mind up to the routines that advance you in your pursuit of a smoke free life......because it's your mind that will determine if you make it. You can do this!
  20. Welcome to your new life of freedom kad.
  21. bjean You already do feel like a non-smoker. You're voicing many of the difficulties we all had to undergo in the early part of our quits. The important thing to remember is that smoking is a killer and you have removed that option from your life. You're doing great....and don't forget that. I'm really proud to see your first week is right around the corner!
  22. bjean There almost assuredly will be very negative consequences if you were to keep smoking. You're through 4 days now. Each day is a challenge, but more than that, it's a victory on your path to freedom. Keep it up! You're doing terrific!
  23. nope
  24. bjean I just went in and didn't have a problem. In the box where it asks how many you smoked each day it is pre-loaded with the number 20. Click in front of the zero and hit backspace to clear that number. Then just type in your actual #. You may need to click on the "arrow down" box below that to change the cost from British pounds to US dollars. Hope that helps. Let me know.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
