  1. Hi John. The answer to your question is yes, I have experienced this. I kept a journal on a smoking app for nearly 2 years with a few words (almost daily) about how my quit was going. I was still having some hellacious days after many months. Here's my entry on June 22, 2016: "7 months quit today. Still craving frequently and feeling like crap! Thought I'd be over it by now." It can take some people a long time to get to the place where they feel like the corner has been turned and it's no longer a struggle. I was one of those people. All I can say is eventually the addiction does lose its grip and freedom emerges victorious. It's worth whatever amount of time and effort you need to render. Keep focusing on those positives you mentioned. I also encourage you to take up some type of physical activity to help focus your mind and body on a beneficial course. Hang in there.....you're worth it.
  2. Way to go Mona. 5 months is a major feat.
  3. Congrats on 7 amazing months Kate!
  4. You deserve a window to lick for each year of freedom. Congrats @bakon
  5. Linda...perhaps you can use the frustration of constantly having to change your ticker as motivation to keep your quit (and your ticker).
  6. One month? Wow, that happened in the wink of an eye. Congrats Steven.
  7. Great job Mac. That's definitely worthy of a celebration.
  8. The sky's the limit Kate. I'm now doing things I absolutely never would have attempted in my smoking days. You'll be running marathons before you know it!
  9. Be proud Layla...one week is a big deal.
  10. Sorry Mick. Some of our members use quite the tawdry language because they're so passionate about quitting. Ooops! I said "members". Moderators, please move this to the "Curse Thread". But seriously, good job Mick. Keep that great quit going.
  11. Your post makes me think back on how impatient I was for life to return to "normal" when I first quit. I had a friend at work who quit 2 years before I did. Nearly every day I would go to his office and ask, "When are these cravings going to disappear? When will I go a whole day without even thinking about a cigarette?" I followed this routine for months with the thought that surely I should be over it by now. The truth is that it takes a long time for your body and mind to adapt to a new life without the thousands of harmful and addictive chemicals you've been feeding it for years (maybe even decades?). It takes a lot of faith and determination, but eventually you will get to that new normal. And I really want to emphasis this part: IT IS SO WORTH ANY AMOUNT OF TIME AND AGGRAVATION TO ACHIEVE FREEDOM. Hang in there. You can do it Linda.
  12. 3 months is pretty damn cool.
  13. Chime in if you're still on the train. Here in all my glory
  14. Unloading my backpack from a nine day hike in the Sierra Nevada. Just amazed by the beauty. Took a nice dip in this spot to reinvigorate during a long and tough ascent. It was so nice to get away from coronavirus, social unrest, and political warfare.

Doesn't that chafe your boobies and tush?
  16. nope
  17. I was just kidding around Jillar. I'm sure the designer of the phoenix rising from the ashes would be flipping out at it being called a pigeon. Looking forward to the unveiling of the 2020 winner. Secretly hoping that Doreen's suggestion of NicKnockers wins.
  18. I don't remember getting an opportunity to vote on the orange pigeon.
  19. .
  20. You're slaying it UIS. Congrats on one month dip-free.
  21. People generally feel that the method they used is the best way. But it's important to remember that all roads lead to Rome. Just get to Rome Linda....whatever way you can.
  22. I think it looks great. Keep up the great work MQ and team.
  23. nope

    Plasma Therapy

Thanks DD. Just did my second donation in the last week. 8 plasma donations total. It does seem to be a fairly effective therapeutic from what I'm told. Hopefully there'll be an accessible and safe vaccine soon since a large portion of the population refuses to follow simple and proven prevention measures.
  25. I'd better stack up on caffeine to get ready for the dance off.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
