  1. I would echo the improved self esteem thing dullyboi! Once you realize that you can put this nicotine addiction behind you for a better future, you will know that you can do anything you set your mind to. Also, quitting now will allow you to be physically active through the years. OK, you're only 18 now understand that many, many years of smoking will take a heavy toll on you physically down the road so, quit now and avoid that outcome. It's the only viable option for a bright future!

  5. YES!! Great work Guttie! On track to complete your first week! Remember, 1 day at a time for now. That's how it's done.
  6. Try deep breathing exercises! It will help calm you. Take a deep breath, hold to the count of 5 & release. Do that for at least a few minuets. That and meditation, if you're into that kind of thing. Congrats of 4 days quit! That's awesome!!!

  12. Yes, don't try to look too far ahead. It will all happen as it has for all of us if you just take things on 1 day at a time. You will soon begin to have better days and will be able to see that your hard work IS paying off. Quitting is a marathon, not a sprint and as such you need to focus on the here and now. Think about positives you may already be seeing Guttie. Your sense of smell may have already improved as well as taste buds waking up. How much $$ have you saved already? There's many, many more positives just waiting for you straight ahead!

  16. Welcome Lordy! You CAN do it if you have a solid commitment to staying free of the slavery to nicotine addiction. This is one thing that is completely within your control, and there's a lot of things that aren't these days but this one is 100% up to you and your actions. You will go through a lot of stuff over the short term, physically and emotionally but if you stay true to your commitment, you will come out the other side with a much better future. That I guarantee you!

  18. Hi Amierouge and welcome to quit train! Congratulations on being nearly 2 weeks smoke free! That's a great start to your forever quit. Everything you are experiencing is normal. It is tough in the early days of quitting, even the the assistance of NRT products. Like all of us, you are a nicotine addict and have built an extensive habit of smoking with almost everything you do each day for years. That takes a while to readjust to once you quit. Filling those moment when you used to smoke with some other activity or thoughts just takes time to become comfortable with. It WILL happen though. The key is to stick with your quit. The longer you do, the easier all of it will get to be. You will receive a lot of support here and there's a ton of information about smoking and nicotine addiction so please use all of it. Knowledge is power!
  19. Yes they do stop but it takes time and an absolute commitment not to smoke again. Fighting through the early days of your quit will not kill you. Relapsing just might. That's the stark reality of smoking and why we all need to quit and stay quit. You CAN do it, just like those of us who've traveled the same path before you. We were no different - we also had to go through it, not around it.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
