  1. NOT FLAT and Sassy is my saying! Don't be too hard on yourself. You can't do a million very very difficult things at once. Quitting will always be your biggest win, eventually, the weight thing will get taken care of :)
  2. Ugh..those days suck!!!! I had one a few days back. Keep on keeping on and tomorrow will be better. Now who can't make it through a quick day right? YOU GOT THIS :)
  3. I was so scared for my health.....I wanted to be healthy for not only my family, but for me. I don't stay awake at night anymore feeling like i'm putting lung cancer directly into my body....I don't hear commercials about non-smoking and think "if only". I can go with my friends or out to lunch with others at work because I don't have to smoke at lunch. Life....is......good!
  4. Hi Beata, welcome! I too used the nicotine patches. I also wanted the nicotine out of my system right away because once I made the decision to quit, I didn't want any part left in me or any "bad stuff" lingering around. However, the patches helped me deal with some major major irritability and side effects. I successfully made it through the 10 weeks of patches and have been off of them for a few weeks now, doing just fine :). You smoked for 20 years, so 10 weeks with a small amount of nicotine each day should be just fine. Don't worry so much about how you quit, but just that you do! You can do this no matter how long you smoked. Never a better time than now! YOU GOT THIS :D
  5. That is quite the number!!!!! Way to go!!!! Smores' are better anyways :)
  6. It will go away Tyme! You got this!!!! :) B) Its an entire life adjustment which some don't understand. Keep fighting the good fight.
  7. Certainly not alone! My first couple weeks, I felt like I lost my best friend, had nothing to look forward to and didn't want to get up in the morning....You will find your happy again in no time! I think its important to find other small things that make you happy each day like taking a bath, lighting a candle, going for a walk and enjoying the air, reading, going to a movie, eating pizza, watching your favorite movie, etc. Give yourself something else to look forward to during the day and you will realize that your happy comes back without knowing and other things will make you happy again :). And also, give yourself a break. Quitting feels like the end of the world and an end to a good thing. It's learning that smoking was never a good thing that will help you to feel happy again. You are doing the best thing ever right now...keep it up!!!! It only goes up from here my friend!
  8. Its not near as scary once you actually do it!!! You got this Cecilia!!!!! :D
  9. NOPE! (and NOPE for the weekend as well!!!)
  10. Back at cha all! Happy St. Patty's and go easy on the green beer ;)
  11. Mornings are the worst! Stay strong Dr. Phil and you will get more and more confidence :). At 2 months, I already don't think about cigarettes first thing in the morning anymore. I've forgot about them for the most part....it does get better!!!!
  12. Why NOT to Smoke: - Worked VERY hard to quit, never want to go through it again - Want to be a healthy momma one day for future kidlets and increase our chances for babe's one day - Want to exercise without my lungs being what stops me instead of my body - Like to kiss my husband without having to brush my teeth, chew a mint or find gum first - Like to smell nice and not worry about people at work catching a wiff of smokes - It's too damn cold out - I don't want to miss out on good conversation or activities with friends while being outside smoking by myself - Want my family and friends to remain proud of me - Want to remain proud of myself, and never ever feel guilty about my health one more day!
  13. Great job Cecilia! Best of luck to you, you can do this no problem. Thinking about you and your new journey! Will be the best one of your life!
  14. NOPE! And welcome Cecilia! YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!!!! :D Stay busy today and get some good candies to have when you feel ansy...Good luck, you got this!
  15. I too didn't have just a couple minute craving my first few quits. It was an all day every day thing that lurked in my head always. However, I did learn that it's ok to just take a second...stuff your face in a pillow or go outside and just scream. Get the frustration out and 9 times out of 10, you will laugh at yourself and feel better :). I never believed people when they said you have to be ready to quit. Once you are ready, the cravings or bad days still come, but you can kick them aside so much faster. I'm also quite a fan of tea, sparkling water (makes me feel like i'm sneaking a pop), and JOLLY RANCHERS. Always have something you can stick in your mouth. Last but not least, no matter how bad the craving or days may be, NEVER EVER tell yourself its ok to go to the store and buy a pack...that you just need "one"....this is never ok and will lead to millions more. Don't fool yourself and keep the sane brain steady when bad moments hit. However, do take the time to pat yourself on the back, buy a little something and be PROUD of yourself. Every day, every hour, every second is a WIN and you should be proud!
  16. NOPE (3 days without any patches too!)
  17. Amazing Boo!!!!! You should be so proud of yourself :)

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
