  1. As much as I didn't want to, I changed my routine like all said above. Instead of having coffee and a smoke first thing, I take a shower. I take a long one and just relax...then..i put my jammies back on and watch tv for a half hour to an hour with some coffee before i have to get the rest of the way ready for work :) Whatever you do, change your routine and it will help tremendously!
  2. Welcome Breathless. What a wonderful introduction. You have our full support and I have absolutely no doubt you are ready to quit and can do it! PLEASE stick around, get to know the website more and read all that you can! Cheers to you! :)
  3. Hi Georgen, WELCOME! You should already be so proud that you have quit (even for a second or 100th time). We have all been in your shoes and man it's not always an easy ride, but it's a great one! I highly recommend NOPE each day (where you post NOPE - Not One Puff Ever and dedicate that day to not smoking). Before you know it, you are almost five months smoke free and forgot you were a smoker....how crazy is that? I also stuck on this website multiple times a day, stalking and reading all I could. It was the place I came too when urges hit or I was bored and wanted to run out for a quick smoke. KEEP AT IT and don't give up. Nothing and I mean NOTHING is worth a cigarette. Enjoy the ride my friend!
  4. Hi Kellemae, First off, congratulations on quitting! What an amazing amazing thing you are doing! It is very hard, but very worth it! The first week or two, mornings were awful! However, I read somewhere on here that you should change your routine completely. It took me a little while to take that advice, but instead of going down for coffee first thing (where I would then have a cig straight away), I take a shower. This is a complete change to my normal routine and has worked wonders! I still get my coffee, but the mornings are just normal now. I do not feel like they are slow or that I'm missing something. It took a few weeks to get there, but that's the point, you do get there! Get through the first little bit and then you will have the confidence to know what you are capable of! Good luck!
  5. NOPE today and NOPE from Thursday (that I missed by accident)
  6. Way to go Doreen!!!! You should be so proud of yourself and thank you for all you do and all the support you lend others! We owe you!!!!!
  7. I quit smoking with the patches...over 4 months now :) I followed the patch instructions to the t, and also started with 21MG. I was very nervous to go down to 14MG but didn't realize a difference, at all. It is a mind game and you have to set your mind to the fact that nothing will ruin your quit but you :) You don't need the patches, but if it helps you get to where you want to go, by all means!!!! GOOD LUCK!
  8. SOOO many awesome things: 1) Smell - I can smell things I never appreciated (fresh cut grass, flowers, lotions, food, etc) 2) I don't catch myself thinking of dying of lung cancer anymore 3) I am able to be closer to family and friends as I now don't have to stay a distance so they don't smell my stale ashtray smell 4) Lots more kisses from the husband 5) Being able to be around people and actually invest in a conversation vs. putting half your mind in waiting for the next smoke 6) NO MORE CHEST PAIN or smokers cough/laugh 7) Finally, I feel so powerful having overcome such a terrible habit...nothing can hold me down now! :)
  9. Giveintowin, come here to get cheered on! We know what it's like and almost a month is a big big accomplishment! Be very proud of yourself!!!!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
