@QuittingGirl I'm still getting the cravings occasionally. They're physical, they're an uncomfortable pinch of loss - but I recognize them for exactly what they are and push through. KtQ!4 points

Gday with those tattoos…… What you do is say you’ve got a full chest tat of an eagle. Wings spread claws fully extended. You open your shirt and show the dot, and explain that it’s at 10,000 feet…..4 points

Glad it went well! Definitely a good sign that they cut down the amount of treatments!2 points

Gday Jo Back from my trip to the bush and time to smoke some tufu. My investigations found a Chinese method. Wrapped the tufu in a teatowel and put a cast pot on top to dry it out a bit. Got a bit out but smoke needs a dry surface to stick. Cut into pieces some salt pepper dry garlic and onion and put on a rack in the fridge for the afternoon. Then lined the wok in aluminium foil. Put tea leaves brown sugar and uncooked rice in the bottom and turned on the heat. As soon as you can smell smoke add the round rack and tufu and cap the wok with aluminium foil. About the 10 to 15 min turn off the heat and remove the tufu. Smells alright but I’ve wrapped in some wrap and consigned to the fridge to let the smoke to mellow and go into the tufu ( hopefully)2 points

So glad your “mapping” went well, to make sure your “zapping” is on target! And yes, it’s a good sign that they have reduced the number of exposures. You got this!2 points

Went to the mapping appointment today. It wasn't that long, at least the time I was actually in the room where they do it. Maybe a half hour or so. The time spent at the registration desk then waiting to be called in was longer, as you might expect with anything medical. They had me lay flat on a hard surface of the CT Scanner with supports under my head & under my knees and they were doing other stuff that I couldn/t see cuz I was laying flat and wasn't supposed to move. They put me into the CT Scannner tunnel a couple of times then back out. They were also doing some measurements on my body as well. I didn't want to start asking questions while they were working so I kept quiet. They ended up putting 3 tattoos on my chest. I thought they'd be some sort of cool tattoo but no, just 3 fairly small dots. one on either side of my chest and one right in the middle. I could barely see them. A little disappointed to be honest. The thing that impressed me most was how kind and patient and willing to describe some of what was happening the two medical team ladies were. I could tell they understood that this was all new and a little scary to someone who'd never had radiation before so they went out of their way to make me feel at easy which made the whole process quite pleasant actually. I got my radiation schedule as well. My first appointment is next Monday. We'll see how that goes. They're giving me a treatment every 3 days, except for weekends as they don't operate the radiation clinics on weekends or statutory holidays. Good news though as the Doc cut the teeatments down from 10 to 7 now so ... I suppose that's good? Onward & upward!!2 points

So glad to hear it went well, and the reduction in treatments. Hopefully all over and done with soon, if only 7 treatments. Is that 2 a week, so about 4 Weeks!1 point

Yes, those darn associations/habits we ingrained in our daily life. It takes at least 3 weeks to build new "go to's". The void quitting leaves need to be replaced with something else. What worthwhile thing(s) do you want to do with your extra time you will have now in your life or in the foreseeable future? Let's face it, we spent a lot of valuable time or should I say wasted time with smoking/vaping. Now is a good time to begin and cultivate new choices or maybe return to one left behind? I'm probably getting ahead of you ... whatever it takes for those 5-10-15 minutes to get through triggers for now works ... meditation, positive self-talk, mantras, focused breathing, yoga, walking, jogging, et al. You've quit before so you know the process. Never another Day One. Make each day a Day Won. You've got this!1 point

Well I have an update. I still have not stopped smoking but today I am going to do this! I'm picking up my first inhaler later and it's just got me in my feelings. Like I have really messed up my life from smoking and I'm angry at myself that I never stopped a long time ago. Smh. I HAVE to do this now. I want a better quality of life. I hope you are all doing well and thank you.1 point

Yes @despair not getting those low dose CT Scans are critical for all of us quitters as we age, Just because we quit before we had a serious health issue means little if we don't follow up with checks on our lungs going forward. Can't stress enough how important early detection is! Again; thanks SO much to all of you for the support! You're all like family in that sense. Support while quiting and now, support through my personal battle. Onward tomorrow to my "mapping" appointment1 point

Hi all, I’m glad I found this forum. I’m here to declare that ‘third times a charm’ and it will be my forever quit!! I have been smoking for many years. I started vaping a couple of years ago in an attempt to replace cigarettes, so now I smoke a several cigarettes a day and I vape a lot too. Ugh. Tomorrow , July 28th, I will start Chantix. It has worked for me in the past without too many side effects. My quit day is August 4th. I will be reading up on this site, checking in, supporting others and pledging NOPE daily. I will get rid of all cigarettes and vapes. I will drink lots of water, eat healthy snacks and exercise. I will use a fidget ring and this weird flavored air thing that I got. Doing these things will not be easy, but I can and will do this! I appreciate having this space to put my plan in writing. Thanks for being here.1 point
