OK Quit Train Members, WTF, yup, I did it and in half a sense I don't even give a f... Let me tell y'all a story in hopes that you don't follow in these foot steps. and in some regard maybe won't help than a good old fashioned hug? This is this evening's story: So, my wife has been suggesting she lives in the kitchen too much. After dinner tonight, I said I got the kitchen clean up and you go to your office and do what you what you need to do. As I am doing the dishes,, etc I am jamming some tunes on the streaming speakers and what comes to mind? My brother, my best friend who took his life by his own hand back in 2020. Yup, these are tunes we used to jam, etc. Then I decided to pour some martini's and the dishes continue on as well as the martini's. Then the cravings start and shrugged them off as a thought. Then the alcohol starts kicking in and made some wild thoughts how a a smoke will be ok. As those that have read my past posts know that my wife still smokes and they are to be had if one looks hard enough. Not this time, went out in the garage and sure enough. There was a half a smoke. So what does Keith do? Lights it up and burns it. Man, I got so stoned off that half a smoke, I fell down. Not sure if that was from the high off the smoke or the martini's I drank. Anyways, not looking for sympathy here as I just ****** up 9 weeks of clean quit. But, is a warning for those in similar situations to not what do what I did. Now feeling like a heel and starting over. Let's not let life circumstances past/present control our QUIT. Yup, I f..... up but that doesn't mean you have to too!!

@FinalAttempt how’s it going?

Golf was a huge part of my quit. That first round was tough, ngl. But I got through it and realized the cigs didn't make it any more or less enjoyable. After about my 3rd round without cigs I would look forward to playing and even enjoy the smell of someone else's freshly lit cigarette. In fact, golfing was about the only time I could get any relief from the constant craving attacks I would get so I played a lot. So focus on the golf and enjoy that and I think you'll find that you don't need the cigs to have fun. good luck

@Cbdave - you must have some serious tides down there! The Bay of Fundy on Canada's east coast is similar in terms of huge tidal swings. up to 35 ft tide in some places. Nope!

Keep yourself busy with reading here. Almost two weeks not smoked will give you some lung improvement. Deep breathing might help. If possible, go for a walk or a bike ride. Reinforce the reasons why you quit. You do not want to go back to smoking!! The urges will pass.

Yes, definitely stay close to this forum because it will help so much. The urges, I promise you, will go away. Unfortunately, it takes time and the first few months are the worst. Keep busy as much as you can. In my early days of quitting, I would take cinnamon sticks and pretend they were cigarettes, sucking the air in and pretending to blow the smoke out. It really did help me. If you don't like cinnamon, you can use cut up straws. Give it a try!
