@Cbdave - you must have some serious tides down there! The Bay of Fundy on Canada's east coast is similar in terms of huge tidal swings. up to 35 ft tide in some places.

We are sub tropical. Normally 5 to 7 ft but with high tides 10 to 12 ft. Still a lot of water.

Go further north towards the equator and it’s 35 ft and up. Park a warship along side a wharf and you’ll be adjusting the lines that hold the ship all day. You’ll go ashore and you’ll be walking up the gangway to the wharf. Arrive back and you’ll be walking up the gangway to the ship.

Similar down east. Lobster boats get stranded in the sand for several hours every day.
