  3. The first summer of my quit I did “speed weeding.” Whenever a craving hit I would dash outside, frantically yank up weeds for 5 minutes, then run back inside. The neighbors thought I was bonkers… but it worked!
  4. Hiya @Nellie. Just chiming in to say welcome! I, too, was a heavy smoker for more than 40 yrs. So I appreciate the courage it takes to make that leap. Kudos to you! I quit using patches and the occasional lozenge as a bridge strategy while I got my bearings. I ultimately found it quite hard to do a gradual step down with progressively lower-dose patches. It kept me in a constant state of withdrawal, which irritated the bejeezus out if me and prolonged my quitting agony. So I transitioned to cold turkey fairly soon, to clear my system once and got all. But each person is different - find whatever works for you and let us know!
  5. Attaway to rock your quit @FinalAttempt: try something new, have some fun, stay busy, and flip the bird to those old patterns. Nice work!!

  12. Hi @FinalAttempt Glad to hear that everything is going well with you! You are doing really great with no smoking, definitely much better than I did at a month. Yeah things start to hurt more the older we get unfortunately. Keep up the great work!
  13. Hey everybody, Hope you're all doing well. Just want to drop in to say I'm still doing great. I've joined a pickleball club about a week ago; between the gym and pickleball, I've been out everyday. The good news is I've not been even thinking about smoking. The bad news is I'm aching everywhere! My legs, my arms, my back, especially my knees! I think I keep forgetting that I'm getting old and my body can't keep up with it. Catch you all later. Cheers
  14. Welcome Nellie! I just joined a few weeks ago and this forum has been great for my quit. Awesome people here with lots of helpful advices. Stay on, stay strong and let's ride this train together.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
