Hello everyone,

I had a relapse and I am starting over.

Gene … it’s been a while since I got my frying pan out

Come - on , stop messing about …

I bet it was horrible 😞

That's disappointing news Gene 🙁

You'll need to consider the circumstances that allowed you to think having a smoke was necessary and make a plan for how to deal with the same situation should it happen again. 9 Months and now starting over again can't be easy and I'm sure you're regretting what happened but put all that aside and get yourself back on the train where you belong!

You've had a good taste of freedom from smoking now let's make that permenant!

As you know we are addicted to nicotine so there is no such thing as "just one".  It most always is quickly followed by another, then another ... .    You don't have to keep choosing to quit over and over again.   Choose to quit and then let it go.  Do something/anything else besides smoke.

Get yourself off the merry-go-round.  Nobody can do it for you.  You have to break the chains of your addiction (keep it dormant by not smoking).   You can do it!  Best Wishes.

I’m so sorry to hear that news, Gene. But I really respect your being accountable and getting back on the Train. Reflect on what there is to learn from this relapse, but shake it off and move forward.

As others have said, ours is a wily addiction. It lurks in the tall grass waiting to ensnare us when we let down our guard. Many of us have had a winding road to freedom… but we’ve learned that it IS possible to get back on track. You can do this, my friend!

Ohh no Gene I am so sorry to hear that you relapsed!  🙁 What happened?  I wish you would have come on here before you lit up, we probably could have helped you to not smoke.

You are right @QuittingGirl... i could say a lot of things but they would all be excuses. I've have had some heavy family isssues going on... none of that  is an excuse to smoke.

Hi @Doreensfree... a little bit of tough love.. yes  that is in order. The worst thing is dissapointing myself and feeling like im letting down friends here... but I will dust myself off and keep going. I really don't want to allow myself to indulge in a pitty party. Thanks for your support.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
