Venting

Hey everyone:

I know this is not quitting related, but I'm feeling rather down and just need to vent.

As some/most of you know, my mom died last year from a heartattack. It's been less than a year and some days are really tough.

I just spoke to my little brother who got into a fight with my older brother and his girlfriend. I guess my OB had promised to visit my LB last weekend, but instead of showing up, he told my LB he had to work all weekend when really, he just drank all weekend with his buddies.

My OB is an alcoholic. He numbs himself with alcohol. He wakes up in his sleep and chugs down a beer... that's how bad he is. After mom died, he felt a lot of guilt and used to drink himself stupid every night to the point where he couldn't even stand up.

But anyway, my LB was obviously upset and told my OB to "**** off then." Well, OB's girlfriend got involved. She told my little brother that he was a loser who sits on his ass and lives off mom's life insurance. My OB told him he was "disappointed" in him because he's never had a job. This same girlfriend told my older brother to "get over" mom's death about 2-3 months after the funeral.

Okay... so my 29-year-old brother and his 19-year-old girlfriend are disappointed in my little brother because he's never had a job, yet they live with my dad, don't pay rent/buy groceries, sit around and get drunk/high all day. Hypocrites much?

Also, my mom doesn't even have life insurance. If anything, my step-dad and my little brother are worse off financially now that she's gone.

I'm fuming. He told me not to say anything, but I want to rip them apart. It makes me so sad that his girlfriend always brings up my mom when she didn't even knew her.

I think you're right. Even if I say anything, I don't think it's going to make a difference. I want to smack a bitch, but she's immature and doesn't have any idea what we're going through.

Most of us have been coping well. My little brother just gets very upset when anyone mentions anything about mom... she doesn't seem to realize he was only 18 when our mom died. He was a baby and still is. He has to live in the house she lived in before she died, he is surrounded by her stuff 24/7. He was there when she died.

This girlfriend of OB's is a real biatch. Who tells someone to get over their mom's death after only a couple of months?

No idea.

Ugh. It feels good to vent. Otherwise, I'd be on my way there to beat the shit out of her.

I know that solves nothing, but I feel very protective of my LB.

Oh Leanna... I'm so sorry.

I just want to reach through the screen and give you a big hug... You are such a sweetie, and I hate seeing bad things happen to good people (and you are very good people!)

All of this on top of your exams... no wonder you can't sleep, you poor girl...

You vent all you need to, and remember that some people are just plain mean.

I will always be here for you if you need me, whenever you need me.

(((Hugs)))

So sorry you are going through this Leanna. I wish there was something I could say to make it better :(

Everyone's nerves are a little on edge when we lose someone we love. But there is really no excuse for your ob and his gf's behavior.

Take care,

Sandy

My family gives me a migraine. My OB has been an alcoholic for years. When he's sober, he is a sweetheart. But because he's drunk all the time now, he doesn't think properly and dates women who are downright jerks to his family. His ex-girlfriend used to refer to me as "the evil sister" and would steal my stuff. Whenever I'd walk into the apartment, she'd look at me and say, "What are YOU doing here?" Uh, I live here you stupid ****.

I'm glad I live three hours away from them. I can avoid the drama as much as possible. My little brother has a bad temper though and I feel very protective of him.

Hugs!

Ah, thanks (((Ross))) You guys are amazing!

I don't usually talk about my personal life, but I am trying very hard not to say anything to OB's girlfriend. This is a good place to vent. :)

Yeah, sleep is very limited, haha. I wish I was one of those people who don't stress, but I do.

I'm doing okay, thanks Sandy. :) I just needed to vent.

For the most part, I'm living my life and am happy. Because my mom and I were really close though, it's a very touchy subject for me and my LB. My OB never spent any time with her and would always make excuses not to see her, so his guilt eats away at him. At least my little brother and I made an effort to be around her as much as possible.

It sucks that his girlfriend always says stuff about mom and my mom isn't even here to defend herself.

I think the GF knows not to say anything around me. Probably for the best. Otherwise, I'd make her cry. :)

She should mind her bloody beeswax honey, telling folk that they should be over the death of their mother. Fighting talk where I come from. No wonder you're livid! I mean how dare she...who is she!

You vent till you are vented out my lovely.

Hate to see you go through all this, just losing your mam would be soo tough without everything else on top of t,

Maybe try spend as little time as possible with OB and his biatch and just focus your time on yourself and LB, he's only a baby god love him, must be soo hard for him too.

I'd just spend quality time with my LB, go bowling, cinema, bring him for a game of pool etc build on your relationship with him, has he or you spoken to a grievance councillor, I think if would be ideal for the two of you to go together xxx

My heart goes out to you, you are just an amazing and strong person, I've no doubt your mam would be soo proud.

Vent, vent, vent, vent, vent, vent, lol

I am the same - when I get stressed with people, I need a good vent!!

Btw, That girl sounds like a real bitch!!  She is probably jealous, because you are happy, and she probably isn't.  Envy brings out the worst in people.  And I expect that nothing you can say to her will make any difference!

She really needs to butt out Sharon, that's for sure! How would she feel if someone said that to her after her mom died? Some people really have no filter and I don't know how my older brother puts up with her.

Sue, when she first passed away, I was a wreck. I had a lot of breakdowns, quit my job, had fights with people for no reason. It was because I didn't let myself grieve much after she died, so I let it all build up. Steve stuck by my side, but I was a mess. I was drinking a lot and I gained a lot of weight. Some days, I would just sit alone and cry.

I probably should have saw a grievance councillor ages ago, but it is a good idea. I've been talking to my doctor about it because he has a background in psychology. School has really helped. It keeps me busy. The wedding planning is also very therapeutic! I love spending time with my little brother, so I will try to visit him more often. It's a little hard because I do live three hours away, but I'm going to my friend's on the 29th and will see if she will drive me to his place so I can see him.

I have a bad temper too (must be the Irish/German in me), so this stops me from screaming at her for my LB's sake. I just find it funny that she calls my LB a loser when all she does is sit around and smoke pot. She is no angel! Total hypocrite.

Apparently she was talking about my other brother too, saying he was a "waste of space."

He's a waste of space because he has an anxiety disorder?

He's 30, yes. He's never had a job, yes. But he's an agoraphobic! He is terrified to go outside. If he were around people he doesn't know, he'd have a panic attack. :( He's been seeking help, so no, he's not a waste a space.

Good God, she pisses me off.

I asked my little brother what she said about me and I guess she didn't say anything, haha. I was like, "Well, that's a surprise, considering it sounds like she's attacking our entire family."

Sometimes it's hard to step back ,and just concentrate on yourself.....

We are always here for you.......better to vent, than to bottle it all inside.....

Hugs and kisses...xx

Ugh, sounds like a challenge to say the least girl.

I shouldn't really be surprised, but yeah, it's going to be challenging not to say anything to her, lol.

Hugs and kisses back Doreen. Thanks for listening!

I'm much better today. Definitely less stressed now that I was able to vent and get some sleep, even if it was only a few hours.

Thanks hun -- I miss her a lot. She was my rock. I really miss hearing her voice. She's the one person who knew everything about me.

What bothers me is my older brother's girlfriend telling my little brother he doesn't really have a right to grieve because he had my mom for 18 years and my older brother had her around for 29 years. My little brother was around my mom every single day and was very close to her, so it's upsetting to hear his GF say nasty things like that to my LB.

Good question. I want to punch her in her stupid face, but *deep calming breath.* I'm still thinking about emailing her or messaging her on Facebook and telling her what I think about her, but I don't know.

Thanks DD. :(
